Is there any pattern in the job roles of the staff who have tested positive?

Yes, I guess even if you're not all having similar level of customer contact, you're all having pretty similar with each other.
 
about 10 of my colleagues have tested positive, as well as parents/children - it really feels like it’s out of the bag now and just wildfire. So I’m wearing my mask all day, windows fully open, spraying my dettol canister in every direction. I’m also not sitting down at any point of my train journeys because I’m committed to doing whatever I can.

Yes very much so. I'm probably luckier in that sense as I'm allocated a room. I even eat my lunch in there so I'm not in the staff room

I know I sound a loon but I do the same :D I don't sit in any other chair at work except for the one I've cleaned in my room. As you say, every little helps

to be fair around here there are wardens asking you why you are out abs questioning people. Well I assume they are wardens knowing this area it may be the local loons let out for their hours exercise but whatever .
 
I don't have PPE on in my consulting room other than when I have a client in, obviously - but we're only doing to face to face consultations at around 20% capacity, and then it's full mask, visor, apron & gloves. And at the moment I'm still adhering to 2m within the rooms as well, although as of next week I'm restarting dry blood spot testing again. But if I'm in full PPE I shouldn't be at any greater risk.

Two women have described how they were surrounded by police, read their rights and fined £200 each after driving five miles to take a walk.


The women were also told the hot drinks they had brought along were not allowed as they were "classed as a picnic".

Guidance for the current lockdown says people can travel for exercise as long as it is in their "local area".

The police force involved, Derbyshire Police, said driving for exercise was "not in the spirit" of lockdown.

One of the would-be walkers, Jessica Allen, assumed "someone had been murdered" when she arrived at Foremark Reservoir on Wednesday afternoon.

"As we drove in there was a police van, a police car, and there were loads of police there," said Ms Allen, who lives in Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire.

"I genuinely thought someone had been murdered; the place is normally so quiet. The next thing, my car is surrounded. I got out of my car thinking 'There's no way they're coming to speak to us'. Straight away they start questioning us.

"One of them started reading my rights and I was looking at my friend thinking 'This must be a joke'.

"I said we had come in separate cars, even parked two spaces away and even brought our own drinks with us. He said 'You can't do that as it's classed as a picnic'."

Her friend, Eliza Moore, said she was "stunned at the time" so did not challenge police and gave her details so they could send a fixed penalty notice.

"Just seeing a police officer anyway is quite scary for some people and we were really not expecting to be approached and to be told we were doing something wrong," she said.

"We don't want to get away with it if we have broken the rule, but it seems a bit unfair that you can be fined on something that's so vague."

Ms Allen said she is taking the pandemic "very seriously" as her brother is a doctor working on a Covid ward in London, and her parents have both had coronavirus.

She said she drove to the reservoir as she knew it would be less crowded than near her house.

"I'm self-employed but my business is closed and I'm trying to fill my time," she said.

"I suffer from anxiety and when you go by the water you feel so much better. I live on my own for five days a week and the only thing I've got to look forward to is planning a walk with my friend."

Ms Allen said the experience was "very intimidating" and had left her feeling scared of police in general.

"I was so shook up afterwards," she said. "The fact they read my rights. I thought 'Am I going to prison for going on a walk?'

"I'm not a criminal but we were treated as if we were criminals and it really made me feel for those people who are wrongly arrested and questioned by police, because it wasn't a nice situation to be in."

Derbyshire Police said in a statement: "Driving to a location - where exercise could easily have been taken closer to a person's home - is clearly not in the spirit of the national effort to reduce our travel, reduce the possible spread of the disease and reduce the number of deaths.

"Each officer will use their professional judgement on a case-by-case basis, however, people should expect to be challenged and understand the clear reasons why they may be asked about their movements given the critical situation the NHS currently finds itself in."

I know this was Derbyshire and not London, but stuff like this really gets me annoyed. Yes they were technically breaking the rules, however this kind of stuff is not the cause of the spread and is certainly safer that going for a walk around a more crowded local park, but I suppose it's an easy £200 fine to record with little pushback. If the police spent more time in the suburbs with all the teenagers gathering in hoards to go skateboarding together at the weekends, they might actually get somewhere.

For example, Bristol's rate per 100k is 469.6, but for my postcode it's 315.1. Surely that isn't based on the entire postcode though, which is too small a sample.
 
Is there anywhere they update the number of people vaccinated? That link is still giving the 1.09m figure as of 3rd January.

My postcode is 270 per 100k. That is still pretty high, right? :confused:

It's usually based on your council ward. Mine is currently 964 :disco:

I read on twitter that using some date in September as the start of the second wave, we're just about to hit the same number of deaths as in the first now. And the death rate is still growing. Scary fucking stuff. If it wasn't for the vaccine I'd be terrified.

The longer this goes on, the more obvious it is that the tier systems big advantage for the Government was how it allowed them to blame individuals - "Someone travelled from tier 3 into tier 2? Well, that's obviously the issue then, not months and months of corruption, cronyism and systemic failure. It's all because Gavin and Tom took a train about 6 miles to go for a pint".

The Tories have strung this out on purpose. Their negligence is criminal.

this is what happened in Liverpool. From Tier 2 to Tier 73 in a couple of weeks. From the lowest in the country to one of the highest. Again.
