Are we likely to get more restrictions? A friend of mine has closed his restaurant for takeaways as he said more restrictions are incoming so he is using up the last of his stock so nothing goes to waste at short notice.

You are getting home delivery for food? I think I may start doing the same as I have the absolute fear when I am going shopping now.

Yeah. I find if I book my next delivery just as I'm completing my current one it's about timed right. I can normally only get very late delivery slots but I can handle it. :emoji_muscle:
 
I've started getting paranoid about delivery drivers because who knows who they're interacting with.

I live within walking distance of TWO care homes so maybe that's where the ANGEL OF DOOM has been busy.
 
We seem to not be leaping up that much the last couple of weeks- we've stabilised around the 650ish mark. INTERESTINGLY since the students have gone home...
 
I’m actually going to take the full advice and act like I have Covid, so I was thinking of doing a supermarket delivery or just a click & collect to avoid having to roam the aisles with hoards of non mask wearers and families shopping together :rolleyes: There are no slots available for the next 2 weeks at any one, so what other options are there exactly?

The weekly supermarket shop has really been the only time I leave to get any exercise. I have smaller shops just opposite my flat which is very handy - for some reason the Iceland is the best run for following the rules as Sainsbury’s Local and Tesco Express are actually appalling for staff and customer compliance, and Co-Op is good but just doesn’t have the right items.

I've had delivery once (when I had to isolate) and he just placed everything outside my door and darted

We do click and collect but really have to book in advance. You can book 3 slots at a time so literally as I collect on a Saturday, I book the next slot for three weeks time.

Thank you. I actually managed to log in this morning and get a delivery for next Sunday which should be fine. Odd that they weren’t showing last night. They just had a minimum spend which is slightly more than I’d normally buy, but handily topped it up with some spare water filters.
 
Has anyone caught the virus since having the vaccine? I was just reading about a Glasgow care home who were first to be vaccinated has been hit with an outbreak. It is not yet clear if anyone who has caught Covid has not been vaccinated. Surely they have ALL been vaccinated? :confused:
 
It takes time for immunity to build, and it's weeks rather than days, I think.

Also no vaccine is 100% effective, although if it's a care home with an outbreak I assume it's because immunity hadn't yet developed.
 
the old lady in my building for whom I do groceries was told that she could start seeing people again two weeks after the first jab. but I don't know if there are any official or medical prescriptions. it would be good to know!

They got the Pfizer vaccine on December 14th. I understand the vaccine would not be 100 percent effective but I didn’t expect to be reading stories about an outbreak where you would have thought everyone had been vaccinated.

Yes, that was my initial point. Surely in a care home all residents would receive the vaccine, no? :confused:
 
I suppose it would then come down to the fact that the vaccine is not 100 percent effective if some have caught Covid and not others after getting vaccinated.

Well the vaccine reduces the chance of becoming seriously ill. Interestingly that case doesn't refer to any deaths thankfully - so perhaps it is still 'working, as some of those who DO have it may have died otherwise?

gov.uk just states 'Residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults'. It doesn't state ages like it does for all the other bands.

Is anyone else getting a bit of vaccine envy? Sorry, I know I've had it, but I don't mean on my own behalf - more for my mother. She's 73 with (mild) COPD and hasn't had an appointment yet, but then I was speaking to my friend just now and she told me her mother who is 71 had it yesterday.
 
It's only going to get worse the moment it starts opening up to the GENERAL POPULACE and not just health workers and old people and everyone's GAGGING to get on a plane to Magaluf.

Yes. My boss has literally just sent me a pic of her and her husband with their vaccination cards.
 
Are we likely to get even stricter rules today? We need a strict lockdown with clear rules, and no exceptions. Adding little bits here and there is NOT EFFECTIVE.

Just wait until all the over 65s have had it and the newspapers who cater to them start demanding everything reopens NOW because fuck you youngsters who have it so good with your inability to buy a house, your loss of EU citizenship and your tuition fees.
