I think You and I is maybe my favourite song on the album these days. I know this will be an unpopular opinion but god if it doesn't push ALL of my buttons. it's basically Gaga doing Shania Twain circa Come On Over - that beefy country twang instrumentation working in perfect harmony with her vocals, the emotive lyricism that swings and hits the perfect sweet spot between cheese and euphoria... and, the bit that really pops a banjo up my bussy: "six whole years" !

truly a gorgeous song, best ever vox, massively accomplished piece of songwriting, amazing. AMAZING. beautiful outro is the cherry on the cake.

I've been up and down with Edge over the years. I don't think I wanted it to be the song the GP latched onto from this record, which maybe poisoned my thoughts on it for a while. I don't get back to it too often but have to admit it's a huge injection of euphoria and warm vibes and there's something about how straight-up and uncomplicated it is that hits the spot. it feels free of artifice. and the sax... OK, I"m ready to stan again.
