I don't know why I find it hard to believe that the only English region currently green on the map is North East Lincolnshire, i.e. GRIMSBY

That's the way to do it if you're going to lockdown. Whereas we open up when we have thousands of cases a day. That's why I never thought UK lockdowns would work..

I facetimed one of my best friends today and she said this. She's ropeable, but fully gets it - it's what they need to do.

Why on earth we are so different is beyond words.

We always go on a walking holiday to Wales every year and I'm thinking of booking a cottage for end of Sept. Will also make sure I'm covered for cancellation..

Well supposedly demand for 'staycations' (UGH) is already high. I thought I'd book it now (as long as I can get a refund) rather than wait and then be left with nowhere decent when this perpetual purgatory finally ends.

If he dies of Covid, I wonder if that would be the trigger for the middle-class to turn against Johnson? Given that Johnson taking Captain Moore's entire donation and stuffing it in the already bulging wallets of his pals in exchange for the vague possibility of some PPE that never arrived wasn't sufficient, I wouldn't put a fiver on it.

I've booked for May and June. This is our last chance to have term time (cheap) holidays. We had planned to take advantage of that last year but obviously that never happened.
 
I’ve just seen how bad the numbers are round here. Nearby Bolsover, Mansfield and Ashfield are all at 400+ cases per 100,000, some of the highest in the country. We’re a bit lower at 314 but still the highest it’s been here.

Are the figures falling, though?

We're at 295 now. My postal district is 193.

314 is the highest it’s been? That’s quite impressive considering the national average was in the 700 region at the start of the month.

There is that but this area is mainly just a collection of villages so it is a tad worrying, particularly for local hospitals, care homes etc.

I’d have thought it’d have probably been higher back last spring though when testing wasn’t easily available.

Ugh, I really do want to be a good citizen, but I would not take kindly to somebody banging on my door unannounced and demanding to shove a cotton swab up my nostril.
 
Given that we've already had some poor woman given a fake vaccine, I worry that the door-to-door thing will be abused in a similar way.
