MORNING LOVES!

I’ve been for a lovely 6am three hour stroll and was so jealous of the still water that I’m going to have breakfast and go back for a swim. It’s the most glorious, sunshiney day here.

I was annoyed I’d agreed yesterday to go for a walk today but the weather is so surprisingly NICE I’m actually looking forward to it.

I’ve weathered the storm of this week, I had and extended Saturday because I had to adjust things to take Wednesday off (to get dick). The working hours aren’t really that bad, 8.30-17.30 with a 90 minute lunch, but 9 lessons really need your full concentration, I’m bushed

I went for a 5 mile walk yesterday (pretty normal for me), but after 10 days of stagnation EVERYTHING ACHES. Even my shoulders.

Fuck lockdown. Fuck it all.

Soaked my feet and I feel some relief. I suspect that's as good as my day will get.

Although I do need to reapply sealant around the bath. It's gone almost entirely black.

@Floppet can I just cover up old sealant?

No, the new sealant won't adhere to it so you need to remove the old stuff first and clean the area properly before reapplying new. The easiest way I found was to use a stanley knife to slice along the bottom of the seal and one along the top and you can just pull it off in a long string and pick the rest off easily.

Oh I actually have another DIY question for @Floppet :D My kitchen mixer tap is fucked, if I go to B&Q and buy one are they easy to change yourself or should I just get a plumber in? It's non-urgent enough that the plumber can wait until after the current lockdown, thankfully!

Get a plumber in. I'm married to an ex-heating engineer and even he doesn't mess about with tap replacement. I did once, thought I knew exactly what I was doing and needed to do, had the PTFE tape, spanners and everything else I thought I needed. It suddenly went tits-up and I ended up knocking-up the prison's plumber out of bed at 11pm because I couldn't stop the scalding hot water fountaining upwards and hitting the downstairs toilet ceiling.

If you have a steady hand and a pinch of confidence in yourself it's a piece of piss. Just have a few practice tries on some junk wood or something if you're using a sealant gun to get the hang of squeezing out a uniform amount of sealant in a line. Also make sure that you cut your nozzle on an angle and point "hypotenuse" of the cut towards the corner. Then you do one length of sealant from one corner to another, quickly dip a teaspoon in either washing up liquid or shampoo (so it glides along the top of the sealant and doesn't stick) and use the back of the spoon to smooth down that whole length of sealant in one go. Then repeat from that ending corner to the next one. Even if it looks shite you can wipe it off while still wet and try again till you're happy with it.
 
Yeah taps are a fucking ballache, and a very light leak can soon cause a shit ton of problems.
