RONS TOP SEALANT TIP:

If you're sealing around a bath, fill bath before you do the sealant and leave it while it goes off. This way you'll be sealing according to some weight in the bath rather than empty, and your sealant wont become detached once in use because its forced to stretch/flex at the point of adhesion.

Oh GOD :D A plumber it is then, thank you! And here I was thinking "I have a spanner, it can't be THAT hard" :basil:

It's not, it's easy or it should be. When you discover that your new tap fittings are a millimetre too small or large for the old pipes or you don't realise that turning off the mains doesn't stop the hot water from the tank in the loft from spouting out under pressure out that's when the fun starts! :D

So much material here for a Things Straight People Like podcast to rival @dUb's gay version

Much of my love of DIY came from "I can't afford to pay somebody to do this, is it easy enough to do myself?". I've considered doing Youtube videos to show others just how easy some things are but I swear far too much and am usually singing loudly to shite music when I'm working so it never happened. Oh and I burst into tears when something goes wrong and nobody wants to see my snotty ugly crying face. :D

What I'm really worried about is doing it properly behind the taps, because they're sort of in the way and there isn't a lot of space behind them. I suppose that's where cutting the nozzle at an angle helps?

I always do the tap side last (and that's when I normally cry). I have massive trouble with ours as there's only about an inch clearance between the tap and the wall (and my bath is built into a ridiculous non-rectangular alcove so there's less space than normal) but you can wipe it off and try again if it's too messy for you, it's only a loss of a few minutes. Doing it wrong the first time will give you an idea of the best position to hold the gun next time so it isn't all bad. I learned with mine to do one corner to the middle of the taps then the other corner to the middle then smooth it from the visible corner going towards to the corner where you can't see unless you lean past the alcove wall to look.

@big ron how's little big ron junior doing?

Been mostly better but yesterday was horrible. He got really worked up about something he didnt understand and then broke down because he didnt dare ask the teacher something as he thought he’d get in trouble. But then by the end of the day he was presenting a poem to 40+ kids and the teachers. Can’t understand whats going on with him sometimes.

We’ve had fuck all help from the school, but I’ve got into just working afternoons/evenings and then catching up at the weekend. Going to be great when he goes back as I’ve perfected the art of working half days, so I’ll have loads of time spare!

Just ordered booze from deliveroo. Fuck going outside.

Yesterday I ordered KFC from Deliveroo for my dinner and I got an extra tub of gravy. Dinner today was chicken nuggets out of the freezer and microwaved KFC gravy. I then ate what was left of the gravy with a teaspoon, leaning on the kitchen sink so Mr F wouldn't know :D

I think we underestimate how much they absorb of what's going on and how much it affects them. We had a meltdown the other day saying 'but why can't Iris come and play at my house, I hate this stupid coronavirus, it's ruined EVERYTHING'.
And that's from a 3 year old.

As brutal as it is I do think the kids will grow up stronger and more resilient as a result

It’s raining cats and dog. It’s been pissing all fucking day. I’m wet and really not happy. Fuck February.

We totally missed our 17th birthday this week. Can't remember why we were so distracted on Weds.

Anyway happy belated birthday, you'll get the keys to the car soon.

Can't believe it's been 17 years of calm and rationa, high end conversation.
