Third album (untitled so far) is FINISHED and vinyl currently being pressed - I imagine they're looking at an early summer release, but new single coming much sooner than that apparently.

she posted this new pic to Facebook

I'm guessing single WITHIN A MONTH. cannot WAIT!

I don't know which I love more of the two albums - Melodrama is stronger front to back / has less (read: no) filler, but my fave Lorde songs overall are 400 Lux, Team and The Love Club. Ribs also. but then - Hard Feelings, Supercut.

both classics.

I quietly stan over the last album, one of the best of the past five years! And “Ribs” off the debut is one of my favorites from anyone that decade! Will do a top ten later to celebrate :disco:

FINALLY.

I much prefer the debut to the second one. Ribs is also my track du choix. I might listen now in zelebration, it's probably years since I heard it!

I'll do a top ten NOW to avoid doing any work

01 400 Lux
02 Team
03 Supercut
04 Green Light
05 A World Alone
06 Hard Feelings/Loveless
07 Ribs
08 The Love Club
09 The Louvre
10 Royals / Writer in the Dark

1. Writer in the Dark
2. Perfect Places
3. Liability
4. Tennis Court
5. Team
6. Supercut
7. Homemade Dynamite
8. Ribs
9. No Better - what is this even from? I have an mp3 of it for some reason
10. Green Light

Working title or not, I love the idea of it being called III. :disco:

I'm sure I listened to These Days at the time, but I can't remember it at all

For a song thats about being a celebrity, Liability manages to actually be a lot more relatable than you'd think

Melodrama is obviously one of the pinnacles of human achievement. I love sashaying dramatically through a supermarket to Perfect Places

I love the debut cause of Ribs and Buzzcut Season (perhaps my fave Lorde song ever, there's a live version on Spotify where she sounds awful :( ) but Melodrama does have its moments - Perfect places, Writer in the dark, Homemde dynamite :disco: :(

Perfect Places was entirely the wrong single. they waited too long to release it, the video was a bad fit for the song and the song was too close to Green Light. I love it but they fucked that up.

I think she could have more hits! Her moody vibe is in and a lot of popular music today was inspired by her

Was Homemade Dynamite also released way late? I figure they both had potential but she couldn’t seem to build any momentum that campaign aside from the initial rollout of “Green Light”.

I can buy the other two but how is it similar to Green Light?!

released in remix form in September 2017 with no video, previously Perfect Places was sent to radio and had a video but it did nothing :(

I remember Supercut also having a pointless release as a remix in early 2018!

I kind of think Lorde's got to the point where it's nice if she has a crossover hit, but she doesn't really need it. She's creative and respected enough to always have a following whether it chimes with the mainstream or not. I certainly don't think it's something that's hugely important to her.

I've seen her described as the closest thing to a new Kate Bush we'll get, and I KIND OF AGREE. Obviously quite different musically, but I'm sure Lorde will just pop up every few years with the odd mainstream hit whilst the rest of her material plays to a dedicated fanbase. I'm sure she'll still be releasing in 30/40 years time, well unless she tragically DIES!

In unrelated news, Perfect Places is an odd one. A great song, but curious single choice as follow up to Green Light, and I always forget about it on the album. It feels more like a bonus track AT TIMES.

I get Kate vibes too, and I don't throw that around lightly. She's just an amazing talent for someone so young.
