GUESS WHO’S BACK?!
Ribs is nice but a bit meandery, I feel. It needs bedding in.
This may or may not make sense, and it is not my thesis on the album.
When I was a teenager, not that long ago, I was aware of the wider world/politics, but it didn't seem so all-encompassing as it does now. This is a bit US specific, but the Sandy Hook massacre (which happened my last year of high school) was a changing point where it felt like teenagers could no longer avoid the larger world. Today's teenagers seem to have to grow up so fast and are so aware of social issues (which is a good and bad thing). Lorde's worldview relates more to that kind of world (to me). I kind of see her as the start of Gen Z

She's definitely the first time I experienced someone so young being so aware of the (sad) world around her. You're right kids these days (This may or may not make sense, and it is not my thesis on the album.

She was very prococious
It's weird, I've listened this album a fair bit but I still struggle picking out individual songs without hearing them. I think it's the consistent production and style of singing. Not intended as a diss.
Team is my favorite on this album
Would a precocious teen say THIS:
"this video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. i dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, i dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronge"
Ew DID SHE REALLY
I like the word GLADIATE. Lorde on her Shakespeare shit.
I'm using that (internally) next time I buy ANYTHINGTo be fair she was about 17
When I was around that age, me and my "boyfriend" went for a walk. We walked into a town center area and he said "so much capitalism" Same vibe here. I still make fun of him for it

I'm using that (internally) next time I buy ANYTHING![]()
Not quite there yet but I absolutely LOVE A World Alone. I wanna go out and dance to it sadly.
