missed the first track but will catch up later!

I already like Out is Through better than almost anything from SIFJ :D glad to hear she's worked her verbalicious stream of consciousness songwriting tendencies into palatable melodies :eyes: gorgeous vibe!

Excuses has a LOT of resonance with me and particularly did when I was 18 and this album came out. I am ALWAYS super hard on myself and it is very relateable

Love that you're here and I love you but please let that be the only SFIJ dig unless you want a ban xxxxxx

Now my imagination is the only thing that limits
The bar and its rise to the heights

(Can't relate!)

This album starts at a high pace, these seem to have flown by. Always liked the excuses serving so well lyric. Identifiable? Maybe.

Oh yeah, I was always making excuses :( I'm not taking all the lyrics in but will do a DEEP DIVE at some point, I'm not wanting to end up too introspective right before I run my event :D

Excuses is a bit of a banger! love that smooth glide from warm, feel good verses to the slightly heavier, more ominous sound of the chorus.

So she was dating RYAN REYNOLDS at the time and this is one of several songs about him. Allowing him to 'be a man' and look at men because she's secure enough in herself and the relationship. Fair play to be honest.

But then he started dating Scarlett.

Probably influenced by my ongoing Buffy rewatch, but you could imagine this playing at the Bronze during an emotional scene :eyes:

I assumed the whole song was sarky? In that she DOES jealous, needy, depressed etc. ("And doth I protest too much")

I always felt like I should find this a bit light but she does this sort of thing very well and gets away with it.
