Name an ARTIST and I’ll tell you their BEST SONG

That, Alone or Massachusetts.

Massachusetts was under consideration for best song.

I also had You Win Again under consideration for my fave.

Was never a massive fan but put the Ultimate Collection on and I'd have happily take at least half of them.

I am curious about other opinions on this one

Such a vast catalogue with lots of different eras
My favorite is Your Disco Needs You

does best mean most critically acclaimed? Can’t Get You Out of my Head? It’s not my favorite but it’s a classic

Also, you didn’t ask Miguel, but while Adorn is great, I think that Sure Thing, Use Me, and Do You are even better

Well yeah but still your opinion. Like what do you think is her most accomplished moment, it may not be your favourite though. We're alloweed to like the basic stuff

Like Madonna's Holiday. 17/10 record. Not her best moment IMO.

But it can also be the same thing :)

All of those are 11/10 songs. Do You... in particular is fuck off sensational. But Adorn is... well it's one of my favourite songs of all time.

Don't have to ask, everyone should join in :disco: I'm just the starting point

Kylie's most accomplished moment... probably Confide In Me... if accomplished means making her an international megastar then Can't Get You Out of My Head... personally The One.

I did have CGYOOMH under consideration, it's impossible to ignore, but something tells me it hasn't aged as well as Confide In Me. Not sure why. Maybe overplay?

Either way, What Do I Have To Do is interesting to me... it's the sort of epic pop song very much of its era that you'd expect to date. But it seems to have gotten even better with age. There's an underlying darkness and intensity to the song that gives it so much depth. I love a DANCE SONG WITH DEPTH!

i think it’s Can’t Get You... still then. Like @ButterTart said, it’s just her MOMENT

“Dance song with depth” is probably the reason my favorite Dannii song is Disremembrance

favourite - Anytime You Need A Friend
best - We Belong Together (maybe)
this is interesting! I can see why WBT would be many a gays' favourite (BILLBOARD SONG OF THE DECADE NEVER FORGET) but I think countless other of her hits are superior from a songwriting/production pov (and therefore "objectively" "better").

I found trying to consider Mariah's 'best song' actually very difficult!

Her best anthems are actually quite safe/simple records production wise. Not that that is a BAD thing. I'd also consider The Roof because that's far from safe. And I certainly prefer it.

Marvin Gaye/Diana Ross/Stevie Wonder please

favourite - Inner City Blues
best - What’s Goin On

favourite - Upside Down
best - Love Hangover

(aside - how good is Muscles though? Ridiculous song but so catchy)

(aside x2 - special mention for the lesser known Take Me Higher)

favourite - Superstition
best - As

There's no way I can do the last 2 but Mandy's "Candy" was a bop at the time.

Britney:

Favourite - I'm A Slave 4 U
Best - probably Toxic but I'm hesitant because she barely exists on the song. Otherwise, Gimme More.
I challenge you to listen to Jessica’s “Walkin’ Round in a Circle” from her 2006 album. It samples Fleetwood Mac and does it surprisingly well! Not sure any of her other output is for you.
I appreciate the ever so faint Brit praise. :eyes:

I don’t think our Brit was there for the recording of Gimme More either.

Steps please :D

the only one I can tolerate is Heartbeat!

but objectively Deeper Shade Of Blue is a bit of an anthem....

Just listened and it is indeed a nice bop. Not a fan of her voice though. Song like that and I'm waiting for Stevie Nicks to come in with a nice deep growl...
