We were absolutely buried under by it in school around December/January/February, but in the last three or so months only one class has has to isolate. And that's with staff doing weekly tests and pupils doing it too on a voluntary basis (it's a Special school).
 
Scotland is RIDDLED right now. A lot of people in the town nearest to me have got the virus at the moment. I am still QUITE SCARED as I haven’t been DOUBLE VAXXED yet. :(

Oh dear. Are you talking about very young people, Rita? I thought most adults were already vaccinated there. If it's mostly teenagers it's nothing worrying, right? Here it's like that at the moment.

A lot of adults still haven’t had a second dose. I am 47, and have only had one dose. Some of the people I have heard that have had a positive test have been double vaxxed and have been floored with what feels like a flu, others with one vaccine and again poorly, but not hospitalised.

same in Liverpool. I don’t recall a time when I heard of so many people testing positive in a few days. In the past 4 days I know of 6 adult, 3 different couples, all testing positive, all double jabbed. I think they all caught it from their kids.

Shit certainly seems to have hit the fan again in terms of transmission. I don’t really know whether to be going about things as normal when I haven’t had my second vaccine.

seems pretty confirmed now that the jabs don’t stop you catching it. They reduce the symptoms. which is still a very good thing. How they get the numbers down to a manageable level without a lockdown however is a mystery

I had no idea. It is a good thing indeed, but I don't think it's good enough for my father, with enough health issues to avoid covid at all costs. Fingers crossed.
 
Oh it turns out that one of the couples have both tested negative, after their son tested positive. But one of them still has mild symptoms, just not showing up on a lateral flow. They’ve both sent off a PCR test. You’ve just got to assume that the vaccination is protecting them from their sons germs, and that’s a good thing.
 
I know we are only in JUNE but I am PRAYING that we can have an extra special Christmas this year with all family and friends this year after last years wash out.
 
I'm crossing fingers for things to be at least bad enough that I get out of whatever teambuilding hell my manager has planned for mid September.

I just came back from a weekend there (Kilmarnock and Edinburgh), and now holding my breath! Thankfully we were outdoors most of the time except for the hotels and eateries and the latter were mostly older folk who probably had at least one jab if not both. And nowhere near any kids. Riskiest was probably 'spoons but we were close to an open door.

Just noticed that the rates in the Scottish Borders where my parents are are twice like a 250 per 100,000 last week compared to 150 per 100,000 down here in manky old Tower Hamlets.

And they have sent me away with home testing kits, saying I should be self isolating. Despite the app quite clearly telling me I could go to a testing site. And despite the fact that Mr L turned up there about 10 minutes before me (as he cycled), and they let him in to do the test.

His result has come back negative. I'm still walking home.

I feel like the events of the last couple of weeks have left me losing the will to live, quite frankly. There feels like absolutely no end to it and I cannot help but despair.

Glad you escaped it!

I have a theory that whilst Delta is infecting people who've been jabbed, it's so mild it's not going on to spread to anyone else. So hopefully it'll sod off soon once it's burned through the youngsters.
 
The cases in my local area went up quite quickly over the past couple of weeks but they're starting to trend down over the past couple of days which looks good.
 
Booster jabs likely to start in September. Do we know how long immunity is meant to last after having 2 vaccines?
