I would have loved Germany! It was my selection for the original Kalavision and I had a SICK song planned out for you all.

Well the Boston Cream donut is my fave but I think only Dunkin' Donuts make that, so I'll just go for a glazed raised I suppose.

you had to choose a country that was linked to your artist (with some restrictions and allowances at Kala's discretion) and come up with a paragraph to describe how your song met the criteria. then we all had to be online for our own specific five minute window during the day to catch Kala's PM in which he'd ask for our selection, but if you missed it you were pushed to the back of the line. it sounds strenuous but it was a Thursday during lockdown so most people just had to be careful it didn't clash with their evening clapping. then we needed to wait to see if our song selection and paragraph met the guidelines.
 
Re: the easy/hard countries thing. I feel like I've caused a diplomatic incident, which was never my intention, so I thought I'd issue an official statement.

When I was choosing the 'easy' countries, the main criteria I had was the size of the music industry and the availability of songs on Spotify etc. Sweden, UK, USA, France etc. were all obvious easy candidates, but there were others that I classed as 'easy' for different reasons. With Finland, it was the fact that they're well known for certain genres (metal and dance), and they have DECADES of Eurovision acts and national finalists to draw from. With India, it was both the colossal music scene and the diaspora that swung it; there are prominent musicians, singers and producers of Indian descent the world over.

I did almost put Nigeria in as easy using the exact same criteria as India but stopped short. Benevolent God-kind and all that.

At least that reasoning for choosing India as an easy country didn’t blow up in your face in any way.
 
India IS an easy country, I have no problem with saying Alla is INSANE to think otherwise.
