today it was pissing down all day everywhere, so I went to my 45th and Japan’s shittest prefecture, almost back to Tokyo now. At least I’ve checked it off the list.

sort of want to go to a ludicrous conveyor belt sushi restaurant but everything’s closing at 8 cos of Covid so not sure how much exploring I can do

My (white) manager keeps saying WAGWAN to me even though I’ve explicitly told him I find it HUGELY EMBARRASSING.

Oh good grief, that's a running joke between me and one of my pals in my team - he's a brown man who thinks there's nothing funnier than white people attempting to use brown/black slang. I took this to a searing crescendo by saying "wha gwan" as if I was saying "wig wan" and this stuck.

Our uni student has tested positive for covid so now we're short staffed...on top of:

The whole world coming in yesterday and buying all our stock.
Two wedding favour requests.
Two shop stock requests.
Christmas fayre request.

People really do love fudge. I hope to be a millionaire soon.

Is it seasonal work Rachey? I remember you saying at one point that you and Mandy were going to take time off in quieter holiday times?

I’m in the office today (was here and left my computer for an update yesterday) for the first time since last year. I love how empty and silent it is.

We're reducing hours in the winter and closing for all of January. But local businesses have said they think the island will remain fairly busy until November time with short breakers and coach parties. Then we have Christmas to prepare for.

Technically in the last 11 weeks, we've taken over a 3rd of what we need to take all year. But I know it will quieten down a lot soon so we need to make the most of it.

Fabulous! Long may it continue. You have both been piling in the hours and working very hard and that work ethic always bring success so well done to you both.

Eeek! Do you not have to isolate yourselves?

When you say 'need to take' @Rachey, how do you mean?

Obviously you and the IoW in general are heavily dependent on tourism, but I can imagine weekends at least you get a lot of that anyway throughout the year don't you?

No luckily not. We all worked with her about 8 days ago, she's been isolating ever since because her dad tested positive. So we've not seen her since she had symptoms.

Still not a WHIFF of FREE FUDGE been sent over on the Hovercraft either

FUMING.

Need to take to enable us to pay all bills and have a profit after.

And yeah, even in June we were steady all month. Some days like a Tuesday and Wednesday were quiet but then they'd pick up from Thursday onwards.

Most hotels etc are booked up until the end of October so we should do ok hopefully. And we're getting a huge amount of local support so Christmas should be good too.

You could always see if any moopers are available to lend a hand. Lots of experienced fudge packers on here.
