Still absolutely STUNNING. The video is gorgeous too. Just knocked it out of the park in every conceivable way with this one.

I wonder why she's never gone back to brunette. She looks GREAT.
 
This fucking video, 11, 15, 28 out of 10. absolutely exquisite, heartbreaking and seminal. The best thing she's EVER DONE - and as a big No Doubt/Gwen fan* that's no mean feat

She really sums up my relationship with MOOPY in one sentence: "after all that we've been through, I know we're cool" :(





And yes I absolutely would do the FILTHIEST things to the male love interest should he permit :disco:

but how could you forget EARLY WINTER?
 
Other than Cool, none of Gwen’s solo stuff comes close to topping the Tragic Kingdom album.

Early winter is FINE but just a KEANE SONG, and once you realise you can't help but hear the KEANE HOBBIT sing it :(

Early Winter is perfectly lovely, but not a classic in the way that Cool and Wonderful Life are.

it actually warms my heart that, despite being a semi-forgotten 4th single, Cool is now almost universally recognised (BY HOMOS ON POP FORUMS) as one of THE defining pop songs of the decade. song, video, sentiment - a perfect storm of melancholy brilliance.

one of the reasons I will always have major love for Miss Gwen. and no, nobody in the world has ever looked more beautiful.

I quite like the song though. I'd have released the singles like this:

1. Settle Down
2. One More Summer
3. Push and Shove
4. Easy

Probably would have flopped regardless. I think it would have done better more closely following The Sweet Escape.
 
the GP just weren't here for No Doubt in 2010, and I feel that Settle Down (despite being objectively the best lead single choice) also killed interest in the campaign.

Easy should def have had its moment. and Push & Shove remains a fucking BONKERSLY brilliant tune.
 
Sparkle and Dreaming the Same Dream remain hidden gems from Push and Shove
 
Heaven is lovely too. I was terribly disappointed with that album at the time, but it has some really great moments.

Push And Shove the song was AMAZING.

I always thought the public cared more about certain No Doubt SONGS (Don't Speak, It's My Life, Just A Girl) than truly buying into them as a band, outside of their main fanbase.
It feels that at her peak Gwen solo could have toured bigger venues than No Doubt :D

Hey Baby is notable also for basically BULLYING its way to a strong chart peak via sheer force of will, despite that nobody actually seemed to like it as a song very much :D
 
everyone was obsessed with Hey Baby back in the day! what is this revisionism. I remember it coming on the radio, before I knew who No Doubt were, and thinking they sounded sounding like the coolest band on the planet. and I wasn't the only one :evil:
