Here’s an interesting thought (Dr funky reporting with more speculation)… the daily positives are soaring again and all the other stats are increasing… except weirdly, the number of active cases in the UK… in fact in some regions it’s slowly decreasing
The only explanation for the overall numbers outstripping the daily caseS, is that the sickness period for cases is getting smaller.
That make sense to anyone else?
The main area of increase at the moment appears to be London. Very similar to this time last year, actually. Not sure what the means but the deaths are staying steady.
I basically just hope we avoid the January we had this year.
And there's thisI’m amazed at the number of Tory MPs voting against covid measures from their own government to keep people safe and prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.
Especially as it only puts England on a par with what other parts of the UK have been doing for ages, and some are now going even further.
Where are you getting data from on "active" cases? That doesn't seem like it's a thing that could reliably be tracked.
Wouldn't hold my breath too much. My colleague at work who is triple jabbed and had Covid last year (OG variant) has just been taken down with Omicron. She don't play.
The covid map that shows number of cases by region. The numbers have gone down vs last week in most places except London and Scotland
I mean it’s no different to what normally happens, the regions flip flopping all year long up and down, but it’s still happening despite the number of positive casss.
My boss also was triple jabbed and got Covid last year/then again this past week. How does your colleague know they got Omicron versus Ms. Delta??Wouldn't hold my breath too much. I can't talk for Suedey's colleague but I've read that if you do a PCR test in the UK, the results come back telling you if it's Omicron as the testers can identify it when running the lab resultsMy boss also was triple jabbed and got Covid last year/then again this past week. A few strange noes from the opposition benches which I struggle to understand, unless it is people who can’t bear to vote with the government on anything (which is pathetic in itself, particularly in this context).

Between a third and a half of labs across the UK.Only certain labs are set up to do this, I think.
Yes I'm getting quite worried at how much it's really taken off among people I know; at this rate they'll have to close hospitality soon.I'm in London and know 8 people who have tested positive in the last week - all relatively mild mind you.
I also think it's everywhere now, many people i know have had it recently.Yes I'm getting quite worried at how much it's really taken off among people I know; at this rate they'll have to close hospitality soon.
I might have to resume pre-production of the second ASFM speed round at this rate.I've heard that the insurance industry is bracing for a super wave in January. I am increasingly expectant of a lockdown as soon as Christmas is out the way.

hasn't he got a party to attend? A baby shower maybe?Another press conference from Boris this evening.
Yeah but they're planning for more worse than they were before...!Insurance is built on prudence. If they're planning for the worst, it probably doesn't mean very much. They always plan for the worst.

Nearly 80,000 cases recorded today. Highest since records began. Nearly double what it was 48 hours ago.
This Omicron is vicious!
The previous forecasts were doubling every 3 days and scientists were worried about that. It's alreayd doubling every 2 days. Yikes.
What was the highest recorded number of daily cases before?
Oh no! How are you feeling? Rest up!Insert ‘Valerie Cherish ‘Well, I GOT IT!’ .gif
