The Princess of Christmas' all-covers album really hitting the spot for me on this Boxing Day.

No More I Love You's is obviously an 11, but I find most of the other tracks pretty bland.

I prefer A Christmas Porcupine
For some people Christmas is connected with turkey, family, presents etc.

For me Christmas is connected with the true Princess of Festivities, Ms. Annie Lennox (the Queen of Christmas of course remains Enya - hi @cheap lousy jiva ).

Whether it is A Christmas Porcupine (and yes I own both editions) or Medusa, for me this period represents Princess Annie.

'Don't Let It Bring You Down', 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' and 'Downtown Lights' are all 10/10 moments for me.

'Train In Vain' is a 9er.

'Waiting In Vain' really came to life in the legendary Central Park concert.

The rest is ok... a bit on the bland side, but name one artist that can do bland production as well as Annie? :disco:

La Lennox (solo) Top 10:

1. Walking On Broken Glass
2. Love Song For A Vampire
3. No More 'I Love You's

I'd love to.

It's a fantastic treatment often overlooked.

Her seering voice was still a seething thrill (the radio 1 live session of the already gorgeous Waiting In Vain is simply lush). The thwomp and thump of Take Me to the River, like almost all, was my first introduction to the song so I was completely in awe of what I was hearing here especially (I recall it was a song often cited as a miss from the set). I still haven't heard the original Don't Let It Bring You Down, but there's a sensitive build up both here and on Downtown Lights that's rich, intimate and, given her alleged writers block, provide a sense that she's truly seeking refuge inhabiting these songs (probably just my indulgent interpretation of course). Out escapism is her's too.

On a personal note, I got this for Chrisrmas in 1999 along with The Immaculate Collection, Dusty: the Very Best of Dusty Springfield and Around the World in a Day. In the snowglobe of my teenage angst, music was everything to me: Annie may not have erased the originals, but if I ever do hear them (I've heard 3), they'll have stiff, severe and occaisionally unhinged competition. Her Waiting In Vain fade out is dazzling and I've got it on now.

Still one of my favourite artists of all time

I have a Spotify playlist of her best Eurythmics and solo work combined and it’s a staggering run of tunes.

Medusa is great, but Diva is legendary. And I really like SOMD too. I can give or take the Bare album.

i remember being at an airport moving moving from a country where cds were everywhere to a country where cds were few and far in between and having enough money for one. it came down to medusa or diana king's tougher than love. i got this one at the end (but then queen king's ain't nobody hadn't come out and slayed me decades before it was hip to get slayed yet).

Queen needs to give us an upscaled HD version of this iconic classic

I love this video. She fits the INTENSITY of a NIGHT CREATURE like a GLOVE. Also, she's pregnant and this was shot as a double bill with her other 12/10 video (Little Bird) which couldn't be MORE DIFFERENT to this.

Both in my TOP 20 BEST VIDEOS OF ALL TIME.
