I'm not. I do have some booze and nibbles and we're cooking a big fat lasagne, but otherwise balls to everyone else!
 
I was going to go to a party or 2 but now that Covid cases are so high here I feel like I probably shouldn’t :(
 
going to a friend's place for a little thang. everyone else is taking a dish, I'm taking cocktails. :eyes: got some blood orange gin, prosecco and limoncello and I intend to get PISSED.
 
I am cooking us a ragu and might have some mushrooms if Ms Ron fancies it
 
Kind of glad my plans got cancelled in all honesty. I’m not a big believer in resolutions and all that but I am focused on become a bit more active and focused on the business next year. This is what being 40 is I guess?
 
Going to a friend's for dinner. I'm supposed to have made a curry but I've been too busy on here so I'm going to buy 4 portions of one from a curry house and put it in a bowl, throw some home chopped coriander on it and claim it was mine.

I'm not that bothered about NYE ever, so nice that it's quiet but I've got an emergency BAG IN just in case...

I’m working which I’m quite glad of, still gonna get TWATTED then doing dinner with friends tomorrow evening.
 
And my LAT FLOW test appears to be NEGATIVE which I'm not entirely sure I'm overjoyed about :D
 
Nah. I'll be woken up by fireworks at midnight so I dunno whether to just see it out or just go to my bed. There's nowt by crap on the telly but I have a few things on the iPlayer I haven't seen yet.
 
Isolating. I see that Jools Holland has both Ed Sheeran and Lulu on his show this year, so I guess the BBC are trying to make sure that I won’t mind if the Covid kills me.
 
Raclette and drinks with 2 friends of mine. Everyone boostered, everyone tested, not starting before 8pm.

Which is perfect cause NYE can go on for a bit if you meet up earlier I find.

There's a new years eve dinner, some wine, then we turn on every light in and outdoors, then we have do the countdown, then at 00:00 we must turn off the central switch of the electricity and then back on again (this makes more sense in cities when doing it in sync) then we have to open every door and window (so that the New Year can come in :D) then everyone goes out at the balcony or the veranda to see the fireworks and in the same time we have to hug and kiss twice once on each cheek. Then we have to throw a pomegranate in the front of the door so that it breaks and seeds spill on the floor (this is for good luck) and then we are cutting the New Year's pie, we serve the champaign and we do the Xmas gifts exchange and unwrapping (they have been under the xmas tree all this time until now). Then it's basically a card game which is a version of Blackjack however the number that you win with is not 21, but 31 (cause of the day) and the last thing that you have to do is that the youngest member of the family (in our case me) has to walk out of the door, and then ring the bell to come in, but upon walking in you must come in with your right leg first and wish everyone Happy New Year. Then and only then you can do whatever you like.

Forgot that the NY pie has a hidden coin in it and whoever gets the piece with that will be lucky for the new year but you can also allocate a money prize to go along with winning the fiorin.
 
I assumed it was just end of day reductions, with them being closed tomorrow. But some of it still has three days left.

I love lasagne! Mandy has developed some lactose intolerance so I've not made a lasagne for a while.

We are drinking red wine and eating meat and bread at home tonight.

Heathcliff is loving life because I'm taking every opportunity I can to snap a selfie with him.

And Mandy is forcing me to watch Girls aloud. Yay.

What's in the pie ?

I don't know why it's called a pie, it's a cake actually with egg, flour, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, orange, nuts, sugar, milk and cognac.
Additional ingredients vary from town to town, for example we add raisins in the mix too here but others don't.
