I think it relatively significant that they are both allies since a number of their similarly-aged peers in comedy, media and politics (Webb, Linehan, Caitlin Moran, etc) are varying degrees of T3RF, or at least quietly complicit and unwilling to call out the T3RFism of their peers for what it is (for example: as much as I enjoy Victoria Coren, I haven’t heard a peep from her or David M to so much as hint that they disagree with Webb.) Too many are more concerned about ensuring the next dinner party isn’t awkward.

Baroness Falkner going in and editing papers and studies to make them more transphobic is a proper scandal, isn't it? Not that it'll get much traction in the media, because it never seems to :(

That interview really annoyed me.

I don't think Margaret Atwood is at all opposed to speaking about gender (nor do I believe she is a TERF), but I think she is quite clearly opposed to being coerced into giving a soundbite that could be easily taken out of context by a journalist that is desperately digging for it :D
I do like that she basically very politely told her to FUCK OFF after a little while :D

Hadley Freeman is a woman, and one of the most obnoxious TERFs writing for the Guardian. Which is a shame, as I used to really enjoy her 80s articles, but it all feels tainted now.

I'm not familiar with her work, but it would probably explain why she was clearly pushing Atwood for a quote, despite it obviously not being on the slate of topics to discuss.

I did laugh at her referring to "the derogatory term 'TERF'", as if it isn't what THEY happily called themselves until a couple of years ago, when they got sick of people making fun of them and decided it was a slur! I'm fully expecting the same thing to happen to 'gender-critical' once it becomes toxic enough.

Seemingly in the arguments that followed someone took an out-of-context soundbite of an argument he was making where he used along the lines of "maybe CP should be legal then" to demonstrate someone's hypocrisy over child labour and made it look like he's actually in favour of that, which plays perfectly into the playbook of glinner and other vocal dinosaurs who think LGBTs are also paedos or "identify as 12 years old" or whatever.

Honestly she goes on about bullying and claims she's being taken out of context all the time while doing exactly that to someone else, she's getting as bad as Putin with the gaslighting and hypocrisy
 
Vaush is a really fucking STUPID Youtuber :D There are no winners in this fight.

I watch a fair bit of Vaush, not that that's his best look - his response was fine though, far rather an occasionally dumb Youtuber (who puts so much of himself out there that his dumb moments of saying shit get far more reach than his good rhetorical flashes - I think he's a great ally to have on side and his detractors always talk absolute SHITE) than JK's bigotry.

incidentally this coincided with a fundraiser livestream he's doing for Ukraine so it's been nice to have him at the top of trending while he's doing that.
