Meat Loaf DEAD

Oh no :( I love a bit of Meat Loaf. My top 2 by a mile are I'd do anything for love and the epic Objects in the rear view mirror. I remember finding in a supermarket (where they never sold cds, forget about singles) the Objects single, with a fake mirror that was so cheap I loved it :eyes:

I do like Dead Ringer For Love as well - I particularly enjoyed that the lyric "Rock 'n roll and brew, rock 'n roll and brew, they don't mean a thing when I compare 'em next to you" didn't translate too well to the UK where a "brew" is a cup of tea. :D
 
Obvs I'm a stan for his overblown high camp melodrama but he was one MESSY climate-denier, Trump supporter. Just pointing it out for the sake of BALANCE.

I literally bumped into him once at the Virgin Megastore in TCR when he was going in for a signing and his PR/bodyguard KILLED ME WITH HIS LOOKS.
 
Surprised to see so many Meatloaf fans on here!

I was never really a fan but respect his talent, and I have to say I still think the Lorraine Crosby/Patti Russo cameo on IWDAFL is still possibly the greatest feature on any rock song ever. Those lyrics! That delivery! 7:58:

I'm actually a bit sad about this. He's possibly the favourite artist that my parents both like, so he was the soundtrack to so many car journeys during childhood.

I think my favourite is You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, purely for the over-dramatic intro.

And apparently he called Trump a “great guy” so it seems he had bad judgement... anyway he did have some good music. His record sales are insane so he must have appealed to just about everyone. I’m not going to do a top ten, because I just know his big hits, but they’re all basically good, if very samey

:D! As a member of the Eurovision Crew, let me tell you I rarely play ESC music most of the year. On the other hand, I have some Meat Loaf songs on heavy rotation in my playlists all the time. There you go.

It truly was a shock to me how universally liked (or maybe better described as not-hated) his music is Alla! As a proper sweaty I can confirm that I have performed most of the Bat Out Of Hell album on karaoke, I can even do the baseball commentary from Paradise without looking at the lyrics.

Now you've made me wonder whether I should venture into the music sections of Moopy one day :D

We do get a fair amount of rock songs in ASFM, albeit mostly entered by the straights.
 
Channel 4 news just showed a clip of him collapsing on stage with severe dehydration from 2016, which seems a bit OFF.

I had a vague memory of him judging on an ITV talent show. I thought it might have been the Grease thing (though that wouldn't have made any sense) but on checking his IMDB I see it was Popstar to Operastar. That was random...
 
Sad about this, love a bit of Meat Loaf too. Saw the musical which was surprisingly decent a few years ago at The Dominion.

I knew his health was waning but still a bit of a shock :(

Hard relate. It’s so nostalgic to me. My favourite is the full 8:28 minute version of Paradise By The Dashboard Light which went on to become a karaoke anthem for me in my teenage years

In this interview she calls him "dead Meat" :( I love him surprising her with the film he compliments. I could have watched them talk without Terry all night. A shame they never worked together again, but what a trail they made with that one song. Could not find any live performances together though.
