The last great "sugababes" (in the traditional sense) single? Certainly the last one that stood in line with their previous singles sonically.

It looks very dated now, but what a borderline-clever video too for a clear cheapo job. Amelle as Keisha's foot-table is just :disco:

I've been playing this very frequently lately and really really like it, more than I did when it first got released.
 
Unremarkable. I'd have much preferred it if they'd gone with My Love Is Pink for the third single proper.

My Love is Pink was a monotone In the Middle rewrite (and not a PATCH on that song). Denial is superior in every way.
 
I never realised this sampled Standing In The Way Of Control until I read it on Wikipedia, now I've read it the sample is SO OBVIOUS.

It could have done with a bit of beefing up for the single mix, but I still think this is a lovely little song.

They could have been looking at one of the strongest single runs of their career, but Never Gonna Dance Again was never gonna happen after Call The Shots.
 
I also saw a Latvian girl I worked with 10 years ago post lyrics to the chorus for Change (the song) as a Facebook status recently, obviously that track struck a chord with the powerful BALTIC KEY WORKER IMMIGRATION demographic.

I love that the official Sugababes YouTube account STILL hasn't uploaded the full version of the Change video, years after they originally fucked up :D -

yup, if anything they could have released Never Gonna Dance Again even if that one sounded like a carbon copy of Call The Shots but hey they needed a HIT desperately and at that point every little helped.

The Sugababes and the song's producers and programmers, Flex Turner and Elliot Malloy, received co-writing credits on the song.[4] "Denial" was mixed by Jeremy Wheatley at Twenty One Studios, London, with assistance from Richard Edgeler.[4] The song's instruments were provided by Pete Boxsta Martin and Wheatley.[4] When Metro questioned Brown about her feelings towards the group's ownership of the song, she responded: "When you write songs for other people you’ve got to let it go, it becomes their property, they have to interpret it in the way they feel. You can’t be too precious about it otherwise you wouldn’t have given it away in the first place."[2]

2008 was finally when things started turning around for me and pop music.

I don't have much time for "About You Now" these days (it does sound very basic to these ears in 2015, like an extension of that prototype uptempo pop-rock Kelly Clarkson sound), but I've always thought "Denial" was quietly the best of the three singles.
 
2008, like Louf stated before, was the pinnacle of pop music. Just Dance, Right Round, Womanizer, Call The Shots, The Promise, Piece Of Me, Work (Freemasons obvs), In My Arms, When I Grow Up.

But then again these bitches ruined it with Here Come The GIRLS :zombie:

I love this song. Very melancholy. I actually really love the whole album (this, About You Now, Never Gonna Dance Again, Surprise, Back When etc)
