I thought this was quite interesting, a poll carried out by The One Show as part of the BBC's centenary celebrations:

I know its fallen out of public favour, but in terms of its history its probably their greatest achievement?
 
I genuinely really miss Crimewatch. It was an EVENT each month. and don't insult me with that Crimewatch Daily shite.
 
Only Fools has a few classic moments of pratfalls and slap stick, but generally I can't stand it. Fun for straights.
 
Dinnerladies being in this and Ab Fab not featuring is a little STRANGE!

I do like Dinnerladies, but it was hardly a CULTURAL JUGGERNAUGHT in the same way.

Dinnerladies being in it and AbFab not speaks volumes about the One Show voters, rather than anything else.

Wondering how that’s possible! We aren’t so different in age (but of course you’re OLDER), but I’d seen 14 for sure, possibly 2 or 3 more.

I mean I watched all the repeats of things when I was a kid, that’s how I watched The Good Life and Fawlty, I loved Blackadder and famous sitcoms of the time like Dibley. The ones I hadnt seen are the new ones like Line of Duty and Killing Eve

Considering over half that list is comedy or sitcoms, it's a shame the BBC isn't very good at it currently.
 
Absolutely Fabulous is the glaring omission for me or maybe being part of the gay community gives me a little bit of a skewed perception of its general popularity but I’m sure it’s widely well regarded.

The Royle Family is the best on the list for me. Victoria Wood is an odd one for me. I instinctively would say I love her and I was laughing at her material back in the day but a lot of it has dated really badly and is a bit cringe to watch now.

I was living in Holland - there was only one channel! Plus I was banned from watching too much English stuff, especially things with "strong accents" (i.e. everything) :D

So the list is mostly things that were either before my time in the UK or which have no appeal.
 
I'm really pleased Dinnerladies is in there (and is it just me who thinks OFAH is riotously funny?).

Suspect there are a few which won't stand the test of time once off air - Call the Midwife, really?
 
Killing Eve and (possibly) Line of Duty feel a bit like that for me too, not that I've watched either but they've both had lots of hype so I'd expect a bit of recency bias.
