Following it appearing (overdue) on Drag Race this week, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

This was used heavily in TV commercials for Atlanta's main theme park and it makes me really nostalgic

I do prefer Boom Boom Boom Boom and also, weirdly, Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine)

Let’s not erase the progressive anthem that was UNCLE JOHN FROM JAMAICA

It makes me heavily nostalgic for 1999. Steps, Britney and Vengaboys were all having hits and I was getting into the swing of frequenting gay establishments and they were all EVERYWHERE.

I just listened to Kiss and it didn't quite stand up to the TITS OUT anthems of BBBB and Vengabus.

Wasn't Up And Down a GENUINE club hit as a serious(ish) dance record before the Vengaboys became the "Vengaboys" band? :D

The video is REALLY NOT OK in 2022 btw :eyes:

i remember being gagged the first time I heard We Like To Party on account of them changing about 2 NOTES from Up And Down and calling it a brand new song :D

10/10. In fact, that singles run was such a RIDE for an act of their calibre, bop after bop:
Up & Down
We Like To Party (The Vengabus)
Boom Boom Boom Boom
We're Going To Ibiza :disco:

Absolutely terrible. I hated them* anyway, but this was perhaps the nadir.

*- Excluding My Uncle John From Jamaica of course :disco:

I'm sorry but We Like To PArty/Vengabus, Boom Boom Boom Boom, My Uncle John From Jamaica and Going to Ibiza were all 10/10 moments for me :disco:

I have a soft spot for We’re Going to Ibiza, and this one I liked too even if it sounds annoying and dated as fuck. But eveything from 1999 sounds lovely to me.

WHY did they decide to STOP the BOPS?
They had such a good thing going with Up & Down/Vengabus/Boom/Kiss, and the formula still had a TOUCH of life still left in it.

Cheekah Bow Bow really was NOT it :zombie: and lets not mention the dreaded FOREVER AS ONE!

...why did I play this video? It's horrendous. :(

I’m with @AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaAAaaaA - at the time I was a bit gooped that it was basically a more pop vocal version of Up and Down literally a few months later.

But these days I look very fondly on this lot’s imperial era. I had never seen the Up & Down video - it is everything I want from a 90s eurodance video, even if it’s a bit… cheap cheap :eyes:

I will go to bat for Cheekah Bow bow too though, if that is not oozing 2000 from every pore, I don’t know what is. An animated character doing CGI nonsense while a robot sings about going on the web to cyber in a chat room and get a virus? SIGN ME UP. It’s like a time capsule.

Oh and I remain obsessed with whenever eurodance acts met legit attempts to make a ballad. So Vengaboys, Alice Deejay, they were fascinating

My first weekend job during college was at Virgin Megastore and my first job “interview” involved some random film and music trivia to test if I knew anything.

We’re Going To Ibiza was #1 at the time and I had to name the Top 10. A proud moment. Obviously it was all downhill from there - if only other job interviews involved a QUIZ.

A VengaQuiz is the best kind. I was always AGOG that Skinnydippin' never got the single treatment.
