Red Warning Friday

I ought to check the local news, but I slept right through.

It looks A BIT BLOWY out, but we're surrounded by woods - I can see trees out of the window and they don't seem to be moving that much...

Is this supposed to be the time it hits, or maybe it’s already hit? We regularly get 60-70 mph winds up here through the night and I sleep through it then find hundred year old trees with roots for days have been pulled from the ground when I leave the house with the dog.

Last night the red warning here was from 7am until midday today, so we should be in it now, but obviously too soon to assume it's over.

Has the worst of it hit and gone past you now?

The red warning is still in place until 12.00pm. I can hear the wind a lot more now. And the trees across the river are swaying about a bit more.

So I made the mistake last night of reading my dentist’s reviews…

:D!

I have never met a dentist who isn't at least mildly evil. I think the portrayal of their profession in Little Shop of Horrors was probably quite SYMPATHETIC.

Reactions: COB
I liked the last time I went to the dentist she reeled off a list of things I shouldn't be eating, until she found one I did then snapped back with WELL YOU SHOULDN'T EAT THAT! I think it was that I deigned to have some chocolate once a day.

I'm going on Monday for the first time since covid and they are DEFINITELY going to tell me off. Pray I don't end up with loose teeth and bleeding gums :(

I'm still in bed. The indicators of wind (a lamp post, a satellite dish, some wires and if I sit up some trees) seem to be slightly more active. If by 3pm none of them are down I'll be disappointed.

Astonishingly there's a small pocket of loons citing the storm as WOKE WEATHER and an attempt to PUSH THE CLIMATE AGENDA.

They always tell me I shouldn’t smoke, then grudgingly concede my teeth are fine. It’s like when the gym instructor told me off for smoking and was then shocked that my breathing and heart rate were normal after a workout

What dentist is this :o

My dentist is amazing. I've been friends with her for about 10 years. She did my root canal and I didn't feel a thing.

What are you having done?

I’ve had a bit of a veneer come off on a back tooth. I’d not been for 8 years as they were SO NASTY and RUDE the last time I went. I was worried it was just me but it’s somewhat reassuring other people have had the same experience!

I’m going to give them a chance but going ELSEWHERE if they start acting shitty.

I’d rather not go private as having an NHS dentist seems as rare as rocking horse shit, but not worth it if I have to deal with these BUTCHERS!

Is it the whole team that are nasty? I don't get why people go to work just to be a dick.

I've just seen a LOCKDOWN IN DISGUISE! post.

They should be encouraged to go and stand on the top rail right at the end of Southend Pier to prove how safe it is.

Multiple house and car alarms going off now. Not seen any flying garden furniture yet.

A reporter on Sky News was on GLOUCESTERSHIRE and seemed to be holding on to some railing. It looked WILD. Then it cut to Weston Supermare and it didn’t even look like a light breeze.

I've never been sure of what the right word is for heavy snow. Like, when it's raining heavily, we'll say it pissing it down, throwing it down, sheeting it etc but the only word I've ever come across that seemed adequate for show was "thumping".
