From experience a head gasket failure usually manifests as power loss before other issues, same with turbo, so hopefully plastic thingy!

Plastic thingy was replaced and there was no more loss on repressurisation. So all I have to do now is check my reservoir levels before I start every journey for the next five days, if it's gone down top up with water and note how much is required each time I do it. Fingers crossed!
