I don't wanna be your baby this time, I don't wanna feel this heartache :(

Hilariously enough this is unrelated to - but sort of the blueprint for - elements of Robyn's Honey album :D
A gorgeous track. The Chicane remix is of course widely believed to be the supreme version over the original -

I actually vastly prefer the demo version to the original (which sounds about as finished as the original does anyway :D), as it adds some THRILLING extra production -

and the full-length original for comparison PURPOSES:

The Deep Dish and Junior Vasquez remixes are ALSO not without their charms either.
Truly one of those songs where the VOCAL outshines any production that could be added to it. BRM could have released it as an acapella track and it would be as equally devastating :disco:

I actually cannot RECALL the time of release. Do we know why it missed the top 40 and seemingly ENDED Billie's commercial prospects in one swoop? It's probably the closest she got to a Your Loving Arms-style SMASH outside of Electribe 101.
In many ways I think it was a bit AHEAD of its time, but the amount of major remix names on board at the time suggests it had some level of label buy-in, even if (as far as I know) it didn't get a music video.

I do love the queen b version, but the production sounds so undeniably DATED in 2022 :D
IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN, but I'd love her to send the vocal stems out to a bunch of relevant modern day producers for a bunch of new remixes. It still feels to me like we haven't heard the DEFINITIVE READING of this song.

I'd also love Ms BRM to sort her own discography out after the second Electribe 101 album gets released :D
She's in desperate need of a well-curated, 15ish track Best Of/Singles Collection that brings together her key tracks from across her discography (although I guess being on 10,000 different labels doesn't really help the CAUSE :D )

I feel like she would be held in higher regard in dance/pop music circles if she let herself be a bit less IMPENETRABLE and all over the place music-wise.

I think it's more to do with her almost certainly being a bit of a nightmare to work with and always having to be right* :eyes:

*Which she normally is, although there have been occasions when she HASN'T been

Also, that voice is far too exceptional for the masses to fully appreciate :)

A bit off-subject but it DOES relate to BRM: why was the production of the original mix of 'Your Loving Arms' so flimsy and tinny? I've never quite understood the reason for that. Still incredible though, obviously :disco:

Apparently BRM has been working with the Macedonian National Orchestra on one of her fifteen SOON TO BE RELEASED albums :eyes:

Imagine if she gave us an ORCHESTRAL READINGS of Honey and Deadline For My Memories (the song) instead (or as an addition) :disco:
Or an ORCHESTRAL DISCO version of Honey :disco: :disco:

Label politics at React, if she’s to be believed.
:tongueout:

Probably something to do with them wanting to spend label funds on bagfuls of ecstasy to gobble down Trade rather than splashing out on MADAME PROMO

THE DISSOLUTE INGRATES!

Do we know if there was a SCRAPPED ALBUM/additional songs to go with the Honey single?
I honestly DO NOT KNOW the answer, but Honey does seem rather tonally DIFFERENT from 18 Carat Garbage.

Obviously mournful electronic Billie is one of my favourite flavours :disco:

I mean where do you even start...

Also, THE COVER!

I did love this EP somewhat randomly ending up on Apollo / R&S. I'm fairly sure that was the first and last time she released anything on there. I also suspect that the 'Honey' deal with React was a one-off, or at least turned into one :disco:

The basic Queen B for me too :disco:

The thought of a whole album of stuff like this and Don't Believe a Word...

Basic as in basically amazing. Queen B, Chicane and Deep Dish are the podium of definitive versions, it's an embarrassment or riches quite frankly. I can, and will, spend hours again wishing her well (you know, the big pop album, the "ah shucks I don't know if my amazing voice has the right quality for this country album" country album, the orchestra album, the mystery #4 album, the more ambient tales album that is an ep, the album that should have cushioned her 2003 era songs and not to mention the one she wrote whilst in the queue at Lidl about mentally torturing the cashier with her top 10 Andy Warhol muses in the hope that they might smile at her next time). And to think she has the cheek to not leak Don't We Look Good (unless it's part of Kristine W's restraining order), and her song for Kylie, Satellites. I mean we got to hear her song for Britney, Reality TV :eyes:

Anyway, #moopyisthepromo

I discovered the Chicane version of Honey via moopy and it’s EVERYTHING

I’m not sure I’ve even heard the others :o and I love Deep Dish as a producer/remixer even more than Chicane

For SOME REASON Madame BRM seems to have uploaded Your Loving Arms TWICE to Spotify.
The version with the original cover art with RED ROSES seems to be fine, however the more recent upload that features Frau Martin LAZING on a Le Corbusier LC4 seems to be playing off a phone in a BOWL in ANOTHER ROOM!

<EDIT: talking about the extended version here, as if there's any other version I would EVER listen to :disco: >
