Friday visits the woman who was 24 hours from death

For those who aren’t aware, my Nan nearly died last summer. This is my Facebook post from 9 September:

It was only just over 7 weeks ago that I made a last minute dash hundreds of miles across the country to say goodbye to my Nan, who was desperately ill in hospital with sepsis. The prognosis was so bleak that doctors withdrew all treatment and moved her on to end of life care. We were told that realistically, she had one or two days left.

My Nan, however, had other ideas.

She defied the doctors, who had written her off without hope. Her mind and body, having had all treatment withdrawn, decided that this wasn't the end and fought back.

At first, we didn't dare dream the impossible, but as the days went on, it soon became clear ... my Nan was not done with this world yet!

After a couple of weeks, she was moved into a home that provides respite care. We expected her to spend a number of months here, such was her frailty and the impact the illness had subjected her body and mind too. More fool us! Today, barely a month of being in this care home, my Nan is going HOME! WHAT A WOMAN!

I remember asking the universe, through my tears, for a miracle.
What can I say? Miracles do happen!

And yes, for those of you who were around and can remember, this is the same Nan who was on Big Brother’s Little Brother with me donkeys ago back in 2004!
Ha! My nan was on this as well :D She was interviewed in the street by Nikki Grahame and gave her a peck on the cheek which Nikki squirmed at then wiped off in an exaggerated fashion.

I won Marco for the day for my Nan in a phone in competition where Marco and Emma chose the winner. My Nan wanted Marco to take her to her local garden centre to buy a new plant and then have tea and cakes.

The next day, a camera crew and Marco showed up at my Nan’s house and we all went off and did just that!

When they played the VT the next day, Dermot said it was like a gay Jim’ll Fixit!

The episodes are on YouTube. I must sort out the links for you all to see.

Amazing! :D I really liked Marco!

I've gone from going to bed at 9 am to waking up at 9 am.

So I ran into a girl I used to work with on the bus and we agreed to go for a drink, and we were never that close but I always thought she seemed fun. And now I’m here and it’s not nice to say but she’s actually a bit. Insane.

Oh no she wants to go for a drink again.

Need to figure out a way of casually blowing her off like that blind woman at the airport.

Can we set her up with the woman from my pub meetup that keeps trying to befriend me. She's sweet but ANNOYING and spits when she talks. :argh:

I said I’m out of town next week (TRUE!) but would be up for something the week after (LIES!)

It was more the high temperature, and my parents had COVID last week! (I’ve tested negative again though)

Even then! If they did an ECG for everyone with a temp/ sore throat, they'd never stop :o
Hope you feel better though, rest up x

I was because my pulse was so high! Probably a mixture of drinking a can of coke, a large coffee and being whisked around the minute I mentioned I felt ill :D

I had a harrowing incident on the M6 today. A lorry drifted out of its lane and bumped into the side of my hire car. Don’t think the driver even realised what had happened and just carried on.

But the car is a state. Ripped the passenger side wing mirror off (it’s hanging by a wire now) and there is damage all down then left side of the car.

Going to be a fun conversation with the car hire company when I return it on Monday :zombie: Most important thing is that I’m fine. I’m with my Nan and we are both very happy to see each other.

Although the accident and the resulting forthcoming financial costs are annoying, it was so close to being a lot worse. Counting my blessings that I’m here to tell the tale.
