As frustrating as it probably is in that case, it doesn't sound like this is the right job for you, or at least it isn't the right time. But there's no harm in applying.As it stands (in terms of hours and salary) he thinks I should turn it down. He's supportive of me getting out of my current job, but not taking this much of a hit financially.
I also think he may be a bit pissed if I only worked 21 hours when he's still full time, and I have to say I could probably relate if it was the other way around. But retirement is one of the options for him anyway. His situation should become clearer in the next month or two.
I work part time, Mandy works full time. I get comments from friends and family all the time about "poor Mandy working so many hours". What people forget is, we split everything in the home equally, she just has a lot of other outgoings that I don't have. So why should I work full time if I don't have to
