Willow looks incredible. Camden looks awful. Kerri Colby remains untouchable.
 
Why did they spend so much money only to have them perform awful original songs. Terrible finale with a predicted outcome.
 
That was a lovely finale!

Willow had the best song, and I think that was the right top 2 (even if I had always prefered Angeria and Bosco).

Kornbread winning Miss Congeniality instead of Keri (or even Deja) was the only upsetting thing.
 
Oh, no actually, most upsetting and unsettling is what Naomi Smalls has done to her previously gorgeous face. :(

She quite redeemed the Jasmine thing by quoting her. I’ll give her that.

What @Diddy said about her obsession with Willow I also find a bit strange. I don’t know why though, but it does come off as a bit patronizing.
 
Fabulous finale. Funny as it needed to be and the mix of performances and lip sync worked really well. The winner seemed right but Camden was definitely my favourite of the season.

I really don’t understand how Kornbread won over Kerri but there you go.

It‘s definitely been the best season in a long time, the twists have been fun but fair, the casting stellar and the challenges great.
 
Yeah, really good season, amazing winner. Willow made me LOL at least a couple of times throughout.
 
I couldn't help but wonder at what point Angeria, Bosco and Daya were informed that they hadn't made the top two. Seems cruel to make them splash out on a finale performance that will never be aired.

That said, neither Willow nor Lady Camden seem to have spent much on theirs, so maybe they all decided not to risk sinking too much into it.

Didn’t like the original songs at all but a great result and some very funny moments

Also Ru looked fabulous
 
Yeah, pretty underwhelming finale with an expected but correct outcome.
I really don't like the queens presentation segments with them doing mostly unfunny stuff in Vegas.

I was rather pissed off that Instagram spoiled it as gays do - I was bored on my break and while I'd been avoiding the recommendations tab like the plague, my thumb just did it and within 3 nanoseconds my brain hard-coded a photo of a queen in purple with her head in her hands, so as soon as I saw the purple (and listened to Hot Goss with Willam basically saying Willow was a done deal, what a cunt), all tension was sucked out of it - even if Willow seemed odds-on.

HATED the format, totally at the mercy of the songwriters - I can't imagine the queens themselves wrote them - some of the songs were barely there, I thought that was the move to get Camden out of the way. Willow's was way better, and tbh Daya's was a serve with those reveals. It just felt like a shitty way to basically choose whatever outcome they wanted.

THAT being said, the top 2 were the ones I wanted, even though I didn't really get much out of either of them (apart from me being a Beetlejuice stan). After going on about Camden being a stunt queen, that's what we got? They couldn't do much floorwork either with the stage strewn with material.

It sort of made me realised that while I have enjoyed this cast a lot, none of them had particularly wowed me to the point of needing any of them to win.

Writing all this feels so weird when I wasn't really against any of the outcomes of the evening, aside from Miss Congeniality - my ONLY theory is that Kornbread was getting/giving herself a cunt edit with a view to a redemption arc, but the ankle went out first, and after seeing said portrayal she thought "fuck this, I'll get ripped to pieces" and didn't want to join S15. I couldn't honestly see the crown being put on the 20th flat wig of the season but that's just me. Kerry robbed BLIND! I wonder who voted for who - I guess Deja was in the mix too, maybe it was like S10 when Monet inexplicably won with like 2 or 3 votes.

So yeah, good series, but by god did I miss the lipsync smackdowns - fair enough to try something different, but the answer was NOT "do the S8 finale format".
 
Also what was with Ru - not only was she about 12ft tall next to poor Michelle, but she seemed ROOTED to the spot!
 
Naomi was pretty on-point in the Pit Stop - thank God there were was someone decent for the end - and she looked a lot more Naomi than the She-Hulk in that Vegas perf - looks like something stung both her cheeks though.

Reminding me that Angie was a real swing and a miss apart from that first runway. So much gurning too, wtf happened to her - and WHY was her song about her track record, seeing as she won twice really early on and never did it again?!

God i hated those skits. and forgot to say I loved Willow's heads
 
Such a relief to see that Naomi is back to not being an ogghely bitch.

And I'm so glad Ru chose Lady Camden. I don't think he favored her like he did with Bosco and Anjeria.

I was underwhelmed by what Big Anj, Bosco, Camden and the other one all brought for their numbers. They must have known Willow would have had a 6ft arm or 2 up her sleeve to at least do something not completely generic and no more than drag placeholder content. It was only Willow's song that seemed like an original given the toaster lyrics (and yes I do think she will have had a hand in writing it), but even that felt off given it was yet another session singer they were lip-syncing too, which I found especially jarring for Anjeria who can actually sing. These lip syncs to the vocals of people who probably sang radio jingles in the 90s really needs to stop. Anyway, Anjeria coming out with a backdrop or Bob Mackie wallpaper as a dress did impress in an old school way, made Bosco look comparatively underwhelming (loved what I can only hope was a subtle reference to Ru letting someone drown in the river that one time - Bosco has really delivered all season on this front), and on the actual classic drag front there wasn't anything I liked thereon. I actually assumed Willow Vs Camden was the first of 2 semis to see who would go forward so when she was announced we just laughed at missing any tension to the moment whatsoever. I thought Willow could have done more with the League of Gentleman esque gimmick before basically just keeping up with Camden and literally doing the same as her at the very end. This is the finale - turn up with nothing noteworthy and you're just handing it to whoever does and this is exactly what happened. Well done Willow who understood the brief - the brief that has been laid out bare since Sasha got so emotional. And even Ru gave a rupeat with the look, but the stilted interaction with Camden's mother was a highlight. And no to Kornbread, award and mask.
 
My only guess for Kornbread is that it was roughly equivalent to the queens drafting her for All Stars? Basically everyone Miss Congeniality S10 prior has got an invite, and I'm guessing Nina West and Heidi N Closet will be getting the call for AS8. Because yeah, she was an absolute arsehole to Jasmine, and Kerri was the really obvious choice.
 
They should have a people's choice award, voted by the people.

I honestly don’t know what you people want. That was actually the finale the franchise has deserved for some time and never seemed to quite pull off.

I thought the original songs were actually all quite good (compared to the dross we have Ru pushing of her own material week after week), the production values were actually great, the right two went through based on the solo performances (I howled at the final Willow reveal) and that was a killer final lip- sync with a great choice of song. I even enjoyed the recap/ postcard moments before- way better than the normal boring nonsense. The interval song with Drag Race Live queens was fun (liked that song too) and loved Ru up in her Wizard of Oz bubble :D Though why only the one (slightly “meh”) outfit, Ru? Symone getting some airtime was nice too- what a fucking star.

I also predicted the Kornbread congeniality win. It was a nice touch considering her exit and I don’t see the issue with that either.

Also, at the end of the day, based solely on the finale, Willow was the winner. I’d have picked Camden on track record, but she’ll be a great All Star, so it’s all good.

A (for once) really satisfactory and exciting end to what has been (often) a frustrating and over produced series. My only question- why do Carson and Ross never get a look in finale-wise? Weird. And my main issue- time to actually film it/ show it live. The winner reaction is just boring when you know they don’t know. Willow’s family looked like they couldn’t give a shit!! Anyway, a great hour’s enterTaintment for me. Finale- 10/10
