Just went past the old Fopp store here. Still empty. Still with the old store signage and logo.

It's been like that since well before Covid hit, but today it's made me feel quite melancholic :(

MORNING

There is a whiff of m00pŷ l33t h@xorz about the title today

Does anyone understand tax? When I got my first pay last month they didn’t put me on a Scottish tax code so I overpaid slightly which I understand and my tax code for this year got adjusted to S1230L. I underpaid £50 tax so assume this adjustment in the code is to recoup that money but on the HMRC website it looks like this…

To me it looks like they’re taking £264 off me for the sake of £50 but she said on the phone that it’s just to spread that £50 out over the year. But my personal allowance is my personal allowance right, the bit I don’t pay tax on so it’s still £264 less? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I applied for a job yesterday that I really want and decided today to pop in and actually speak to them face to face as well. They’ve given me some additional forms to fill out because they want me to consider a couple of other roles too and fingers crossed I’ll be having an interview next week :disco:

Funny you should say that, I went past the old Fopp on Byres Road yesterday - it's been a couple of pop-ups but is currently empty and it does make me a bit sad. I went to see Ride last night, touring their debut from 1990, "Nowhere" and I bought my copy of that album in that store in the month I started uni. An awful lot of feelings attached to all that.

Speaking of which, have you ever been to a gig and been surprised by the audience? I did not expect Ride to have so many old neds, boozed up and shouting. I knew the audience would be largely my age but it was like a coach trip for the hard of thinking had been emptied into the place.

Was that one the original Fopp, @octophone? I always forget if it was that one or the city centre branch.

It started as A1 Sounds in the Savoy Centre before moving into a space in Renfield Street, opposite the old BHS. I *think* the Byres Road store opened after that move but I couldn't swear to it. The Renfield Street store closed in 92 and it was a fair while before the Union Street shop opened.

I did far too much peopling yesterday. Taking a day inside to recover a bit. I;m going to try and finish the CD re-filing task as well - T-Z and outsized CDs to be done. Then I need to look at what's going to the chazzer and what's just going in the bin because absolutely no-one wants it and how the hell did I end up with it anyway. And of course I'll check Discogs first.

I’m tired from work - BUT, gentle Mooper, should I go to the gay bar by myself tonight? I’m on the fence

It could be just what you need to perk you up! Is it one of those gaijin-only segregated ones, or does that only happen in Tokyo :eyes:

I've been refusing to put my heating on since energy prices went up.

It's now 12c inside the house and i have progressed to constantly wearing a hot water bottle.

We have the heaters on in the office, but thats weworks problem.

Who wants to pop to the shop for me for a packet of fags? It's lovely and sunny outside but it's nowhere near as warm as it looks and I don't have the energy to walk quickly.

I've also managed to put 2lb back on since Sunday night but I think that's because everything I've eaten tastes delicious. I think the antibiotics have given me my tastebuds back because it seems like it's been ages since I've actually enjoyed food flavours.

My tariff runs out on Saturday. It is no coincidence that I've taken time off work this week instead of next week.

I went to the bar, it was quite nice, the bartender was burly, the only other customer was friendly, a German who turned up was alright too, he was a geek who likes haribo so plenty in common.

Then some queen and his fab hag came too and started karaoke before both collapsing into sobbing during song 2 (not the Blur song)

I left to get the last train, I don’t have the stamina for a late one (also the drinks were expensive)
