I absolutely adore this fabulous human. She has exactly the same sense of humour as me and I think our brains work in very similar ways. She is such a joy!

What is your opinion of Claudia Winkleman?
 
I remember staying up late to watch God's Gift on ITV, mostly because you got to see men taking their clothes off but I always enjoyed Claudia presenting it (I think Davina McCall did the first series then Claudia took over). I've liked her ever since :tongueout:
 
Just looked up God's Gift and had completely forgotten that it featured voiceover narration from Stuart Hall and later Jimmy Savile. No chance of that ever getting repeated, then :shock:
 
I like everything about her, except her fringe.

I have that book! I used to hide my bags of drugs inside the cover of it when I had people over, thinking that would be the last place they'd look.
 
Claudia even manages to bring the best out of SALLY TRAFFIC and make her tolerable. A miracle, to say the least.
 
I first became aware of Claudia when she took over as co-host of game show TALKING TELEPHONE NUMBERS (replacing Emma Forbes) with Phillip Schofield back in 1997.
 
I'm always amazed to find out that her mum is EVE POLLARD and her sister is MINOR ROYALTY.
 
She is incredible and it's a real shame she only does BBC1/Radio 2 gigs these days because I think her true wit and humour isn't suitable for those mainstream channels and we only get the PG version of what she's capable of.

Sunday with... today in The Observer

Wake-up time? I wake early. I’m 50 – it just happened about three years ago. From being a sloth, I’m now like a meerkat at 6ish. Annoying but true. A nap will occur later.

Sunday breakfast? I’m beside myself about Sunday lunch so breakfast is small, slightly greasy and immediate. I just discovered ManiLife crunchy peanut butter – a gamechanger – so I’ll have that or Marmite on toast. I drink decaf because I can’t cope with the chaotic madness of caffeine. I had a deep roast espresso a decade ago and was awake for three days. Not my bag.

Sunday morning? Sloping about in ancient pyjamas with the papers, while looking for a pen for the sudoku.

Sunday chores? The kitchen usually looks like we’ve been burgled. Saturday is curry night, so there are spices and chunks of naan bread everywhere. We tidy up and if I’ve had a spray tan – I know, you thought this orange was real – I scrub the bath as it’ll have a delightful teak rim, as if it’s been used for gravy-making. Small price to pay, I say.

Sunday listening? Radio 2 is always on. I’m not just saying that because they employ me. I love Rev Kate Bottley and Steve Wright’s Love Songs.

Sunday outfit? Really bright colours. I’m joking.

Sunday supper? Whatever we didn’t eat at lunch. Often had while standing up. I know this isn’t the correct way to behave but we like it. Chatting about the movie we just saw, ambling about, opening and closing the fridge. Someone wants a boiled egg. Someone else is dipping the last roast potato in mayonnaise.

Bedtime? After my bath, I follow the kids around, wearing a flannel dressing gown I’ve had since the 80s. I’m tucked up with a book by 8.30pm. I love being 50.

Last thing? Check my kids’ school timetables. I’ve sent them in with the wrong games kit almost every day of their lives.

If you could be anywhere next Sunday? At home, doing what we always do. My 19-year-old is away at university, so I’d have him clamped to me. Maybe he could give up the degree, study dishwasher-loading and move back home. It’s an idea.
 
People really seem to love or hate her.

I love her, she comes out with some fabulous one liners..

Glad to be getting another chat show and outlet for music performances tbf.

Not that it can challenge The One show, but you know.
 
Yes, I love a chat show with a host I like. Still hoping Chatty Man is revived in some form.
 
Yes I was thinking they may bring back Chatty Man or something similar on another channel given his renascence. I used to love Jonathan Ross too but last couple of series he really has struggled with guests - Graham Norton seems to nab them all. I think that was the reason Alan gave for Chatty Man ending, too.
 
Whenever Jonathan Ross is on at the same time as Graham Norton, the chasm in quality of guests is almost embarrassing.
 
Yes, Wossy has to try and muster up enthusiasm weekly for MAYA JAMA and JOHN BISHOP who seem to be on it weekly with STORMZY.
 
I love it when newish big US stars who have never done Graham Norton before do so for the first time, and you see if they GET IT or not. Invariably my estimation of them goes up if they do.
 
With Graham Norton you know its going to be a generally amusing and decent watch even if the guests are not great. With Jonathan Ross, if the guests are shite then I'll just turn off. and I generally do quite like Jonathan Ross as a host, too, but ITV turned his chat show very budget. I enjoyed the prime BBC era.
 
I can't even believe Jonathan Ross is still on air. so low rent. he really self sabotaged moving from BBC (was he booted after the sachs scandal?). put that bitch out of his misery!!
 
He slagged off Tina Turner's appearance without hair and make-up, but when he had her on again it was all that revolting flirting he does with all female guests.

Chatty Man could work if they'd go for more camp guests, kind of what Graham used to do back in the Betty's Tongue years. I miss seeing people like Linda Blair, Kim Wilde, Siouxsie Sioux walking to the couch arms locked with 2 steroid gym bunnies.
 
we really do need something like Watch What Happens with Andy Cohen in the UK. just an outlet for the HUNS to have a drink and talk shit, with occasional cameos by Victoria Beckham or Olivia Colman
 
Love Claudia, love her to bits, but I do get a foreboding sense of doom about this show being a Davina-style flop. She should have just brought back Liquid News instead.

I really enjoyed that, and it brought back that feeling of late Friday night after the pub viewing that TFI Friday captured. I thought it would carry on was surprised when they didn't continue with it, but was not keeping track of ratings

This was my thought too, but I am hoping Claudia is savvy enough to really put her mark on things and or it to be quite an 'original' chat show. With the Davina show, as much as I think she's a great broadcaster, It smelt of no originality and Davina literally turning up and putting her name to something. I think Claudia and the production team for this may be a little bit more promising..
 
I'd be very surprised if it flops. It sounds like it's essentially going to be The Graham Norton Show but with Claudia instead of Graham? i.e. it's made by the same team and will be on in the slot that Graham's show was on in before he decided to half his series length each year. It'll be more about the guests and the comfort watch of there still being a big Friday night show with A-listers, than Claudia herself.
 
She filled in for Graham a while back on his show too didn't she, and all went smoothly
