Ooh was she good @Lucille ?

Mandy and all of the Roly's team apart from me and one other are off to see Greenday today :(

Moopy I've just been poached by the vets I left to open the shop.

They want me to go in as a training consultant for the reception team.

They will work around the shop and think it'll be about 20 hours a month.

I originally said I'd never go back, but that was because the general public are arseholes and the vets are too stressy, but I wouldn't be dealing with any of that. I'd literally be in a training room training reception on customer service etc

So, I'm tempted to take it but can't decide. Help me :zombie:

Also what sort of money can I ask for??

No they would have to work around me and the hours I do at the shop.
I'm not sure I'd ever want to go back to a place of work I'd previously left. But if it doesn't squeeze you timewise and you can get lots of money out of it I'd certainly be tempted. And I assume it's a temporary contract while the reception staff are trained up?

Sort of beggers belief that there's no-one there currently that can do that... But not your problem!

Yeah would it be temporary? And contract (i.e. freelance)? If so, get those contract rates. £50 per hour minimum :disco:

I did always say I'd never go back, but I did also leave on really good terms and it was a job and team I always loved.
My main thinking for doing this is it'll take the strain off the shop during the winter months without having to lose staff, because I can take a cut.

Apparently it's a permanent thing, so once they're trained up I go in and do regular refresher training.

I used to be the person that did it when I was head receptionist. But then I left and the new person is shockingly bad.

That's what I need to work out. I think they would employ me. And apparently it isn't temporary but from my point of view I would probably think of it as temp.

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually try to get you in permanently and full-time, but you can cross that bridge when you come it.

Does Mandy have an opinion on it all?

I absolutely wouldn't do it full time. They are aware the shop always comes first.

Mandy works there now. And they're aware with her that the shop comes first and they're very flexible.

She thinks it could be a good idea but is concerned I'd end up hating it.

Just done my first ever sports day as a parent :disco:

@Rachey can you do it in the winter when FUCDGECORP is quieter? My mums semi retired but has bagged a winter job that she does when they cant go on tour in the van and its perfect for her

I'm running out of things I want to watch on Prime and Netflix.

Still too tired to work but not tired enough to SLEEP all day.

That's what I'm hoping, that it'll be mostly winter. But I'm assuming it may be all year. They are aware they need to be flexible and will have to work around me and the shop, I've already given a lot of conditions including who I don't want my manager to be. They seem fine with it.

I'd be very clear about what your boundaries are, @Rachey. It wasn't only the public which put you off the job last time, was it? You didnt like a lot of the management of staff stuff either. Now I know you deal with that more now and have more experience at it, but at Roly's you are the boss ultimately.

They obviously need you more than you need them, so you're in a strong position to be clear about what you want. Ultimately you don't need this, which is a great position to be in. If you can make it work for you without impacting on Roly's, I'd say go for it. And don't be afraid to be borderline cheeky in terms of what salary you ask for.

Yeah you're right. I hated being a manager, but I don't think I would be. I think I'm literally training people.
Some of the management drove me mad so that's why I'm going to say I can't be managed by one in particular. I also will make it clear under no circumstances am I going on reception if they're short staffed.
Mandy said the same, I'm in the best position. They're aware I don't need this, it's just a bit of extra pocket money and to be honest, will look good on a CV. I literally have no idea what to ask for with regards to pay.

My laptop fan keeps sounding like a helicopter taking off, I've used it as an excuse why I can't work from home next week but the damn thing better not blow up on me.
