Having said that, I'd be just as happy having a view of fields and hills...but I'd need to be within a 20 minute walk to the beach.

I miss it awfully. I used to love walking the dog on the deserted beach in winter as the waves pummelled in. Can’t wait to get back to Spain.

It's not used that often for concerts either, although The Killers were on a few weeks ago as well. I think they are only allowed to hold a very small number each year, possibly because it's in a very residential area. I've never been to a concert there.

I was really impressed. Really good venue, loads of food and drink places but no chains like the O2. Really quick to get in and out and a huge amount of buses to take you back.

The walk from Cribbs to the hotel was not overly pleasant.

But tonight has put me off wanting to go to the O2 again.
 
I don't know why you guys are all talking about living by the sea. Inland London is where it's at. It took us 40 mins to get out of a car park about 150m big this afternoon. And then another 30 mins to drive 3 miles home.

I mean who wouldn't want that? :o :zombie:
 
Funny enough I was chatting to a rep the other day at work. He was from Portsmouth way actually. I said my biggest reason I couldn't get people to his company is because it's 7 miles away from where I work. Despite the fact this company has state of art technology for free, I find people are unwilling to travel 7 miles in London because it's too far. He said down in Portsmouth people travel up to 40 miles to his company. I told him 40 miles travelling there is about the same time wise as travelling 7 miles in London.

I work in Southport and we have people from all over the area who drive in. Some from Manchester even.

Now and again in London you'd hear about people commuting from Brighton or places like that to London and most people would find it ABSURD.

I think so. Saw what seems to be the owner talking to the firemen outside, he probably lives alone. The apartment is a few floors down to the left from mine but my entire floor was full of smoke.

Do Londoners not like travelling far in London because of the time and traffic?

That must have been scary. Are your building alarms good?

Ours go off on a regular basis when someone smokes / has a shower / falls asleep while cooking 🤦🏻‍♀️ it terrifies me. Not because I think we could die, as we are right by a fire escape, I don't even particularly care if we lost everything, my biggest fear is not being able to get the cat and rabbit out :(
 
I would love to live by the beach (hence my Spanish plan albeit that will most likely start in Madrid).

In the meantime, I just got back from seeing Gladys Knight. Incredible - her voice hasn't aged a day.

What are building alarms precious? Never heard any. I mean, you're supposed to have at least one in your apartment which I do have. Fire can happen to anyone but I don't have too much faith in the kind of people that live here. At least it's close to the beach to stay on topic.:)

:o does your building not have proper alarms that sound around the whole thing if there's a fire?

Ah, pity! I always stayed at Mollie's Motel- an upmarket budget hotel, if that makes sense, and in the same areas. For future reference, it's great!

Oh we went to Mollies for lunch yesterday! We were thinking of booking there but I think they might have been full. It was lovely tho.
