Emmanueldontdoit king of all kings ❤️

I was up at 6.30 to go across London and meet friends to do a parkrun only for the Central Line to be SUSPENDED. Got sweaty on my walk to and from the station, Iguana's still asleep so I'm sitting in the lounge, sweaty, waiting for the clock to move enough time so I can leave and go to my local one instead.

Basically, tl;dr, I'm this but sweaty

I was rudely awakened at 6am by a cacophony of deafening magpie alarm calls (bedroom window was wide open). Opened the curtains to see what all the racket was and there was a white cat in the sycamore tree about eight feet from my bedroom window, a good twenty feet up. I couldn't count exactly how many magpies there were because they were all divebombing and squawking at the cat but I counted at least nine of them. Then a crow joined in with cawcawing. I was sorely tempted to help the cat down with my air-rifle but chose not to because it's somebody's pet, I do hope the magpies got some good stabby pecks in although I didn't see any obvious injuries when it was climbing down the trunk with arms and legs on either side like a koala.

Nine magpies? Lucky you!

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,
Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss,
Eleven for health,
Twelve for wealth,
Thirteen beware it’s the devil himself.

Does anyone else struggle thinking what to eat in this weather?

I feel as if as long as I know I've got some fruit and salad in the fridge I'll be fine, but Mr L would quite happily have me doing jacket potatoes.

I never knew what eight onwards were because after Seven for a secret never to be told my brain just shouts "Maaaaaggggggpie" :D

I’ve decided to just graze on chopped vegetables and hummus this weekend.

Ooh I've only ever known up to 7! I didn't realise there was more to the rhyme.

I probably eat more jacket potatoes in summer than any other time of year, I only ever have prawns and a bit of salad with them though. I buy lots of cooked meats and keep peppers, baby tomoatoes, cucumber and spring onions in the fridge and I'll just make a couple of butties for the sake of saying I've eaten something proper.

It's at times like this I get pissed off at the local M&S foodhall closing. I just want to go there and spend what would be a week's worth of food in Lidl on a few plastic tubs from the chiller which would barely cover us until the end of tomorrow.

The opposite, I love summer food. Winter just ends up me perpetually craving stodge and carbs. I think I’m going to struggle when it comes to winter now I dodge meat.

It's not that I don't like summer food - the opposite if anything. More that I don't really know what to make, or feel like standing over an oven/pan/grill, or have the energy to think about it too much.

I've just made a watermelon and feta salad from what we had in the fridge. I need to get a bit better at shopping for summer food. Other times of year are easier in that as long as you've got a reasonably well stocked freezer and cupboard you can always rustle something up.

Yeah thats the flip side, you need to shop more frequently because its the season of fresh stuff and everything goes off quickly. I want a watermelon and feta salad now.

Does this mean if you see 22 magpies you get a kiss from the devil himself? :disco:

I'm so tired and I can't be arsed to go and party this evening. I've been constantly tired since I was ill. It's been about three months now.

I've bought her a LOVELY LIGHT SHADE and MATCHING CUSHION and honestly I want them for myself.

I had no watermelon but I did have some very ripe strawberries so…

Nice. I think I am going to get the griddle out later for some peaches. Perhaps with some mozzarella and honey.

🤤

I’m a bit obsessed with bbqing fruit and veg at the minute and peaches are next on my hit list

Had my Feast and it was lush although they do seem to reduce in size every year. I've got Magnum Mint and Magnum Double Raspberry lollies in the freezer along with strawberries & cream ice-cream, mint choc ice-cream and a tub of vanilla soft-scoop for banana milkshakes but I didn't fancy any of those. What I really wanted was a large 99 Mr Whippy with chocolate sauce and crushed nuts but the ice-cream van no longer stops in front of our house and doesn't come around the other side of the park till about 7pm.

I could really go for a Mr Whippy now. Covered in pink and blue sherbet.

We've just been to two kids birthday parties back to back. Both at soft play with no A/C. I've never seen such red sweaty faces.
