AS7 E12: Lip Sync LalapaRuza Season Finale

That makes me really bummed out :( I know (or well I heard Willam say :eyes:) that production was really pulling for a victory lap vibe this season, so there were no negative critiques etc. although I wondered if that was part of the deal to tempt queens back (along with no eliminations)

In some ways as a viewer, I sort of liked that positive vibe in contrast to the artificial drama created in the main line seasons (and regular AS)

And the sisterhood did seem genuine (and seems like it was). Even Ru seemed to be honestly appreciating them too.

But yes they do love a “smiling through the illness” storyline too, which is not a narrative they should dump on anyone

I think in general, production consistently deifies both the show and RuPaul, painting him as some kinda psychiatric TV healer who can solve all your problems if you go on his show.

Another bad storyline is how @KindaCool has been cheering for Jinkx all season but still hasn’t learned to spell their name
At least I HAVE a storyline bitch!

I understand what she means and it sucks that they couldn’t enjoy the experience but to me as a viewer I think they were all portrayed in the best possible way and it does come off as a bit whiney to complain about it (same thing with the thing about Raja talking back to Michelle or Trinity talking about the edited out bad critique)… I mean they know it’s a reality show...(and as much as I can find Michelle annoying, she’s still just doing what’s asked by her role?

It's a shame if Yvie did have some serious conversations about her struggle and how she fits in, and none of it was shown, and I'm sure that would have been interesting to see, but there was eight of them every episode - I'm guessing she wasn't the only one who had important stuff cut out. The thing is I'd understand but she, like everyone, was portrayed really well. And I certainly think her bond came across well with the others. So it's not the worst editing job...

As for her illness, I recall that coming up once, in the tic tac interview? And it wasn't an unreasonable question. They didn't make a big deal out of it otherwise.

The dick thing is just silly and again she wasn't made into a joke because of it. But I guess it's shitty if she felt that way. Like Viv's drug addiction, Trinity's face work etc, most of them took it in good faith, even invited it, knowing it's just queens fucking around.

Poor girl obviously struggles with lots of things and she was never really a comedy queen so maybe it makes sense. Actually yeah, it would have been good to see those conversations on balance, but in this instance the show probably isn't the one to target (for once). She should feel proud of her work on a competitive season, they definitely didn't screw her over

Not to mention the sheer number of times Raja's AGE was used as a punching bag.

She had the same defensive hissy fit in her original season. I don't think she could have came across any better frankly, and the that's even with the artificial laugh, which she's cranked up a notch since.

And I've not listened to this yet, but Raja is on the latest Hi Jinkx
