"When You Kiss Me" is VERY bland in retrospect.

Any Man of Mine set my expectations for men and it’s why I’m single

It was the only one of the group I was sad to see go this early :(
 
If we’re talking about underraprexiated songs from her debut (a conversation I’ll be having with myself only) God Ain’t Gonna Getcha for That is a great one. And one I decided to interpret as about being gay as a child
 
If (If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Out of Here is out of here next I'm out of here too - it's an early spike of her pop gold outpouring.
 
poor Rock this Country :( a total outlier on Come On Over (and somewhat lower tier on the album) but I do love its brash stadium / hair rock VIBEZ!
 
I think When You Kiss Me is quite gorgeous actually!
 
how many can I vote for? I went with She's not a pretty face, GOD that album had so many potential singles that were wasted away in place of some bland shit.

Yeah, I really can't impress upon you Americans enough what a complete NONENTITY Shania was here pre-Come On Over.

For all intents and purposes, You're Still The One was her debut single in Europe.
 
It's like how artists like Reba McEntire, Martina McBride and Tim McGraw couldn't get arrested here. Unless it was being served up in the form of a cover version by Ronan Keating, US Country music in the 90s/early 00s was just a total local phenomenon.

Leann Rimes and Faith Hill had a few hits as well, but both were essentially marketed as pop singers (and Faith very much came up in Shania's slipstream)

which is weird because alt rock was everywhere in the 90s and it wasn't miles apart from country (perhaps not Reba's brand of country), to the point that a lot of country pop now is packed with those 90s alt rock references.
 
Country isn't exactly my favorite genre, but there's some good stuff, and a lot of 90s country music is basically pop music
 
I think I might prefer Any Man of Mine if it had a That Don't Impress Me style EUROPOP MIX. It's just a bit too rinky dinky for my tastes. But I've spared it for this round.
 
The Woman in Me got to number 7 in the UK, and spent 5 weeks in the top 10... (in 2000, but still)
 
On that subject, ropey Euromixes of US Country songs are a particular favourite microgenre of mine. These two both saw some UK chart action:
