He was only stripped of his HRH title, wasn't it? I don't remember him being removed from the line of succession. I guess it was felt he was so far down the pecking order now, the likelihood of the big job going to him was minimal.

Nice to know we'd get him before Anne, though.

I thought he was stripped of the lot for some reason. Taking away his HRH title is bugger all really, no?

I don’t really understand why he is ahead of Anne when she is older? The whole thing is STUCK IN THE DARK AGES so I guess it’s because she is FEMALE.:argh:
 
The Andrew thing is nonsense. I just looked it up and before the Queen died it was Charles, William, Harry and Andrew. Makes sense Beatrice is now on there but William and Harry are before Andrew.
 
Right, hang on. The coffin cam thing on the BBC is 24 hours? Really? Who on earth is going to sit watching a coffin with no-one going past it at 2am?
 
It's weird enough top watch people filing past but just...nothing? Surely it's going off when they close.
 
From 17:00 BST on Wednesday the public have been filing into Westminster Hall and will continue for 24 hours a day until 06:30 BST on Monday, the day of the state funeral. The government has warned people could face 30-hour waits to get in.
 
I’ve got to go to my cancer quack on Friday at Chelsea and Westminster hospital.

Presumably that’s far enough away to not be an issue, RIGHT?

But the spouse of the monarch is always there, aren't they? And all it means is they are the group of people who can undertake the monarch's official duties - none of them have priority over the others do they, so there's no 'before' as such.

There are road closures in places and they're expecting that area to be busy. But I don't think it'll be too much of a problem for you hopefully.

Wow. I did not see that coming.

I am very tempted to record bits very early in the morning, 3am etc.

Can you watch it on catch-up? Like if you miss a few hours?
 
It is weird when you skim read/half listen to things. I always assumed that Andrew and Harry were no longer in succession as Andrew got stripped of any royal claim and Harry gave up his place in line.

I'd be really curious if there was some sort of horrendous accident and Harry became King, what he would do. Even if he abdicated immediately it would go to his Son. Who probably couldn't abdicate himself until he came of age. He'd have to get parliament to intervene and surely, at that point, they'd just get rid of the whole thing.

If that did ever happen then who would be King until Harry’s son was of age?

We'd have a Regency. No idea who a modern regent would be. I imagine it would be Royal Perogative and the PM would appoint someone, or maybe it would have to go to parliament proper. I imagine the first person of age in the line of succession would be the obvious candidate but who knows.

Harry’s son would still be the King, but a regent would make all the decisions and essentially rule on his behalf, to the extent that a modern king does any ruling. The way things are set up at the moment, the regent would probably be Andrew unless there was so much outcry over it that he had to step down and let either Edward or Anne do it instead.

Is it because Anne is female that Andrew comes before her in the line of succession, and does that then put her behind Andrew and Edward?

Yes it does. The changes allowing an older female child to come before a male child only applied to future births, so Anne remains behind her brothers.

Yes. Until recently, the system was that the eldest son inherited first, then younger sons, then the eldest daughter. It's been changed now, but not retroactively, so Anne remains at the back of thr queue :(
