Yes the girl from Los Angeles was :o And I think the reasoning she gave for flying all that way was that the Queen was a strong female (like Xtina).

In summation, enjoy the pomp and circumstance and leave the dirty work to future generations.
Sorry but this is a terrible take. Things change because of small incrementals and we all have a part to take however small (if we want things to change that is).

You could say the same thing about climate change. Why would I care that the earth will be a furnace in 100 years when I get hot summers every year that I'm alive?

The Royal Family were massive in America way before The Crown.
Flashback to 1995 when I went to San Francisco with @Epponnee Rae and he got mistaken for Prince Edward.

I've been to the US several times since then and have always been amazed by the press coverage the UK royals got. The Crown may have increased that, but there's a reason why it was commissioned in the first place.

We aren't ALL taking part though are we? There does not appear to be any hunger or urgency for it, particularly since most of the political parties are propping the system up.

This country, more than any other, has a tendency to have a rose-tinted view of its past. We aren't even close to accepting all the ramifications involved in cutting free from them.

I should add that I am keen on a move away from the system but realistically I can't see it happening any time soon.

We've had a graffiti update :disco:

Where once we had this

I still stay one of the highlights of the last 10 days coverage for me was the commentator with the shock reveal that the Queen wasn't infact talking to a real bear in the paddington sketch. Apparently it was all done with computers! Remarkable! - I for one am still am still reeling! :o

What about the BEES?

For me scrapping the monarchy is akin to stopping Christmas because it helps to maintain capitalism and archaic religious beliefs
Didn't someone try to abolish both at one stage? And then it all went tits up (autocorrect, why did you correct "tits" to "Rita"?) and turned out to just be a king in all but name and the Monarchy came back

I'd love to do away with Christmas and all the waste and hassle buying shit no one wants. (Unless you're particularly skilled with gift buying) but because it's tightly interwoven into childhood you'd been seen as an absolute monster for trying.

(And yes it very much is a celebration of retail, who actually pays attention to the religious side these days?)
I’m sure now he is King that he CAN DO NO WRONG, and countless excuses will be made for him simply because he is now KING. I wonder if the British public would be so forgiving if it was Andrew. Probably. A lot of people on this island are just so blindsided by these people.
I don't know. I've probably come across more pro monarchy than others even if most of it is just thinking aloud, but there's a limit to how many times I'm going to say "alright yeah maybe the aide could have had the brains to not put the ink wells directly in front of the chair where he's supposed to sign stuff, and hey he's paid to do this stuff, and let's be fair to the king he just lost his mum" before I stop making excuses for his behaviour and that's not very far away. Doubt I'm the only one either. The Queen was loved also for her ability to (at least when the cameras are on her) perform her duties with grace and treat people nicely. If Charles is just constantly coming across as a massive cunt, I don't think he'll inherit that love the same way he inherited the throne.

Her Majesty is sure to be TOUCHED by the sight of 2 dozen POOFS raising a (plastic) glass of Tesco champagne, bedecked in mouldy towels with cum dripping out their arses.
It's what she would have wanted.

Are the trains still running?

I'd rather that company than watching it in Bristol Cathedral or a Vue cinema.

Did you like him before he became King? I’m assuming you did as otherwise why would you be giving him the benefit of the doubt? He was a horrible old snob before, and he is still the same person. Yes, his Mother has just died and to that I sympathise but it doesn’t make me like him anymore or want to give him the benefit of the doubt? Why would I? I couldn’t be doing with him before and I can’t be doing with him now King or no King.

I’ve just spent the night in THE QUEUE. Joined at 12.20 last night and got in to stare glumly at the coffin at about 1.30 this afternoon. My feet and back are bloody sore.

I didn’t make lifelong friends with anyone and there were quite a few nutters about, but the other half was very happy that we went. He used to work for the royal household so thinks he’s practically family.

Not really. Varies between full on power walking to shuffling to complete standstill (which is so painful). It’s fine when you’re moving though and we took 6 paracetamol each which helped :D
How do the toilet breaks work?

Loads of portaloos along the way. And some toilets open along the southbank. Once you’ve got a wristband you can leave the queue for the toilet or to get a coffee etc. as long as someone holds your place.

Have you got a wristband on eBay yet?
