Well that queuing experience was the stuff of nightmares. I thought it would never end! My lower back is in perpetual pain and I might as well have rocks for shoes such is the torture my feet have been put through.

11 hours all in. It was solemn but also a bit surreal. Westminster Hall is a sight to behold.

Never again will I queue like that though. Walking past the poor souls yet to even go over Lambeth Bridge on my way home honestly sent shivers down my spine.

Oh DEAR GOD. :D

As fascinating as it is I haven't felt a need to indulge in any of this, it looks utterly exhausting. The thing is even if 90% of the population couldn't care less, that still leaves SEVERAL MILLION who do, enough that it's always going to seem like a big deal. And annoyingly it's probably much more than that

That said, I might be tempted to watch funeral highlights, but unless there's an unexpected family scrap over the coffin or a seething drunken royal ready to unleash all, is there much point. At best, it's a historical curiosity. At the other end, it's an extremely indulgent affair that's actually quite morbid when you break it down to watching a family have to grieve for their matriarch ON CAMERA for what has already been days on end. On balance, I feel like I understand it even if I don't agree with it, but it remains weird.

I see there's about 6 HOURS worth of funeral viewing if you feel so inclined tomorrow. A quick family cremation lasting less than an hour has always been more than enough thanks

I'm not watching, any relevant bits will be all over the news for the next week anyway so pffft.

All I can say is that I think tory Britain has creeped on to the UK’s way of thinking and I pray it won’t stick. How anyone can admire a monarchy who have and will live a life of luxury in a country that has so many living hand to mouth is beyond me when they live with such great wealth but yet still still take taxes off the poorest working people to live a lap of luxury,

And this is the main thing I can't get past, the justification - the reasons always, when you ask even the most sensible people, boil down to fluff like, "but it's part of our culture, our history". Yes well so is RACISM and COLONIALISM but we don't go around buying a celebration cake from Tesco and having a fucking tea party for it.

I mean, some people probably do but you get the point

And yet here I am saying I "might watch a bit of the funeral". Actually we'll be driving for most of it so luckily I won't have to face those inner dilemma questions :disco:

By the time time you get to my age you have been to UMPTEEN funerals so I won’t be watching although I will possibly watch the build up to see what Kate and Meghan are wearing.

I will absolutely be watching.

I'm not expecting anything as iconic as Diana's but it should be quite the spectacular.

Obviously I'll be reporting every last thought on here. WHO WORE IT WORST?

Who's hot, that always turn up at Royal events? I feel like Tom Parker Bowles might scrub up well.

Mourners expecting an ALL STAR line up of Frida from ABBA, QoL Jacinda Adern, and murderous Saudi Prince Mohammad bin Salman (if he can stomach the minibus).

If I was 11 hours in to an immobile queue to look at a box with a blanket on, surreal would pretty much be my default state.

I do hope there will be some music away from just hymns. Phil’s funeral was a bit of an anti-climax.

It’s not going to be hence why I am not giving it the time of day. If it was going to be a tits out wall to wall spectacle of course I would be watching but I expect it to be more like a Sunday version of SONGS OF PRAISE. No thanks.
