I loved Dubrovnik; I felt like there was loads to see and barely scratched the surface in the five days I was there.

How do people avoid this when cooking? I often feel like should invest in a full chef white complete with cap to stop cooking smells pervading every fibre of my being.

Oh I mean in terms of having eaten it. It's seeping out of every pore now. I only changed the bedding yesterday. Must make a point of having a bath tonight rather than a mournful shower tomorrow morning.

Eat a spoonful of sugar and spearmint. Or basil. Or both.
Then brush your teeth and make some gargles with mouthwash.

I was shocked this morning that my heating had switched itself on, I got downstairs and switched the computer on and it told me it was only 2 degrees outside.

It was beautifully sunny so I sat on the back doorstep in my jamas and dressing gown having a fag (one of the rare bonuses of no more Ridley) and enjoying the peace and birdsong. Two minutes later the heavens opened and it started bashing down, the birds all shut up and I went inside again.

I'm trying to avoid heating as much as I can. It's just so bloody expensive. Fingerless gloves, blankets and hot water bottles will be at home leisurewear this winter.

We're telling ourselves no heating until October. He feels the cold more than me, and I'm confident he'll be turning the heating on before I do.

Or at least asking me to anyway, as he doesn't understand how it works.
