Oh please! I'm sure we pay a lot more than just £1.39 a year!
Just think of all the services that were shut down today for example. That will have a massive impact on people .

I spend £45 on a mobile phone and I'm pretty sure I don't get all the benefits, I spend about £80 a month on Sky, Netflix, Hayu and Prime to watch a few shows. People waste money all the time, a coffee daily, a meal deal weekly etc.

£1.29 a year is 0.003p a day. I feel like people can afford that.

Plus a huge amount of the money goes towards the upkeep of places like Buckingham palace, I'd be very sad of that went to ruins :(

What are the benefits though? At least with Sky you COULD watch stuff if you wanted ( at £80 a month though).

That's including Netflix and Prime I think 🤔 I'm not really sure.

The benefits are, I get a Royal family 🤷🏻‍♀️

Technically not personal benefits. But I don't feel I benefit when I'm guilt tripped into giving money to a charity I have no interest in. But I still do it.

Is that how much is costs? Fucking hell.
That's Sky internet and basic sky, plus Netflix etc. That's an average guess but I know Mandy said the other day our Sky was £65 a month.

@Rachey they are no better than you or me! But they get millions and millions of pounds every year for what, giving people a warm fuzzy feeling? I'm sorry but I just do not get it.

I'm not asking ANYONE to like them like I do. I'm just saying, I do like them.

I like having a Royal family. I like the comfort and security I feel they bring to me.

I like that during shit times, during pandemics, during terrorist attacks, they are a constant in the background. They're always there.

I like that fact that Queenie stuck to the covid rules even at her husband's funeral, when politicians we're partying all over the place. She set a good example when the country needed guidance.

I'm not saying I like them all. I know there's been some very questionable things going on with them.

But, I, personally still appreciate them and think they are far better than any government leaders the UK have had.

And to me, 0.003p a day is something I'm more than comfortable paying.

Other people dislike them and don't want a monarchy. That's fine. Have your opinions. I'll have mine.

The thing is, the Crown and members of the Royal family own vast amounts of land and property. Why are we paying for the upkeep of their homes when many of us are already paying rent to them for our homes or offices, or paying them to hold on to our leases? They're absolutely minted, they can afford their own wallpaper.

I just read that the UK tax payer pays £1.29 a year to the monarchy for their Sovereign Grant. I feel like I'm more than happy with that amount. I'd have gone up to £10 a year to be honest.
What do you feel you get back for that £10?

Murderous Saudi Prince Mohammad bin Salman won't be attending the funeral after all but has flown into Birmingham(?!)

Disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing how the event planners were planning to stop him from getting into the press area :(

Hopefully there'll be lots of other human rights abusers there :enya:
