she doesn't address it even remotely (and if she did the Kelly Clarkson Fangirling Show would hardly be the venue for it!) and I think she seems fairly normal :D

It’s been a rambling, rocky odyssey to the release of “Don’t Worry Darling” — one involving canceled late-night appearances, rumors of production rivalries and conspiratorial frame-by-frame analysis of red carpet body language and an alleged loogie trajectory. But there was always going to be an opening weekend at the end of this road. And the numbers show that Olivia Wildehas directed a hit.

“Don’t Worry Darling” should have no trouble topping the domestic box office, projecting a $21 million debut from 4,113 theaters. The film earned $9.4 million from opening day and Thursday previews — a more-than-solid figure for an original film that carries a modest $35 million production budget.

Woof that was boring. Harry Styles isn’t the worst thing he’s just bland and you could see how someone reprehensible like Shia would have been a better lead.

I dozed off several times.
 
Oh and the sex scenes were laughably bad.

also this is not my original idea but I was listening to a review and they pointed out that it’s laughable that all these incel men (who drugged and kidnapped their wives) want in their fantasy world is an old fashioned and to go down on their wives.
 
God this was a SLOG. It looked gorgeous (top notch production design and cinematography) and I liked the cast, but it was so needlessly repetitive and just went round in circles. You could cut 30 minutes and have a much stronger film.

I guessed the twist quite early on (well the modern-day-outside-the-bubble element) so the fact it took so long to get to the BIG REVEAL was especially frustrating.

I thought Harry was pretty good, though he had curiously few big scenes/moments considering how central he was to the plot.

My biggest question while watching was: what's going on with Chris Pine's FACE? He's at least had his lips done, right.
 
I know, the internet keeps going on about how hot he is but it’s just a bit deformed Ken for me after all the work done.
 
Harry is now also the queen of pop - like Madonna he's unnecessarily vilified for his acting prowess
 
I was rather enjoying this as a piece of old nonsense but it totally fell apart in the last third. The tease was much more interesting than the reveal, which was like a very lazy Black Mirror and negated everything it had built up to that point.
 
Also Our Liv obviously got a blank cheque for this film because she was putting EVERYTHING SHE WANTED in it :D and nobody was tempering her more pretentious indulgences.
 
This was very much not good, but I appreciate that it went properly off the rails at the end. Not enough films do that these days. :D

Pugh carried it, Styles was giving a performance worthy of a Hollyoaks actor. Olivia Wilde clearly beefed up her own part :disco:

Plot holes agogo too. What was the plane actually supposed to be?!?
 
I really enjoyed it! It really fed my lust for dystopian, 'am I mad?' storylines. The last third was the BEST bit for me!
 
this fell off very hard at the box office in week 2. not currently clear if it will become profitable in the end (would need to make around 90-100m globally - currently at $54m).
 
Bros is a gay comedy with no big names, this is a movie with a lot of controversy starting Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.

So I absolutely loved the first 2/3. I knew from reviews it would go off the rails, but up to that point it was almost 10/10 for me. I loved the way it looked, I loved the set up, I loved the way the tension built. And to be honest, I didn’t HATE the last third- I just don’t think it followed the promise of that set up.

As much as I defend him, Styles was a problem. They clearly cut his part in the first two thirds where he was constantly in scenes but saying nothing. However, they couldn’t do that in the end and it really showed. I don’t think he was disastrous, but he certainly wasn’t very good either. There were some seriously blank looks when he should have been emoting.

Pugh was outstanding. Astonishingly good. In a better film I’d be shouting for an Oscar but I can’t see them rewarding this now.

Still, thoroughly enjoyable for me. 8/10. Despite the plot holes (yes, as my learned friend said earlier, what WAS the plane about?)

Wasn't the plane connected to the Little kid who went missing? He was dragging one behind him.

Not that it meant anything, they were promptly forgotten about.

Also, Harry's accent was hilariously bad. Visually pretty but overall underwhelming.
 
This has more or less ended its theatrical run now. Ended up making $45m USA, $85m worldwide. Given the middling budget and bad reviews, I’d say they’ll be happy with that. It’s been sold to HBO max for an imminent TV debut too which probably earned them a decent amount.

In terms of Global takings that’s roughly on a par with The Woman King ($91m) and the second Downton Abbey movie ($92m), both of which probably cost more or less the same ballpark to make and market.
 
it won't be anywhere even close to the profitability yet and I doubt they'll be happy with it. the horrible word of mouth really killed it.
 
You have to factor in the cost of Olivia Wilde's new face
