Listening to the expanded version now… that live version of The Strangest Thing! 😍🥲

But aren’t there any dance remixes of Jesus to a Child and Older? I’d like to think that there were some back in the day

There’s some amazing songs on LWP but it always felt unfinished to me. Learning about his battles with the label who were horrified with his mature, alternative take on pop music, it all makes sense really.

I think it’s been mentioned before but imagine if he had followed up with LWP2 around 1992 and what could have been.

I only listened to LWP for the first time, when it was re-released. I really liked it, but I'd say Older hits the gay nail on the gay head a bit more.

10 Jesus To A Child
10 Fast Love
09 Older
11 Spinning The Wheel
08 It Doesn’t Really Matter
10 The Strangest Thing
08 To Be Forgiven
08 Move On
09 Star People
10 You Have Been Loved
10 Free

There's nothing on here that I didn't already have, but it was such a joy playing it end to end again. What an incredible album.

I do miss George :(

The Jesus To A Child single had some live versions of older (not Older) songs on it and Older had a couple of new cover versions. I don't remember any remixes of either.

I have listened to the live version of The Strangest Thing about a hundered times since the weekend. I realised it the version from the MTV Unplugged but I don’t think I had access to it before on Spotify. So beautiful, so sad, I love him so much (can’t believe he died before marrying me etc.) :(

I don't really understand why the MTV Unplugged tracks were added on to the Listen Without Prejudice re-release, when the concert was in the same year as Older was released.

Added to that, the live version of Fastlove is no longer available and The Strangest Thing is Spotify only!

Same reason as why 'Fantasy' was on there as well.
Messy people handling his legacy. Worst than Madonna's team to be honest.

It’s a mix of everything it seems. And what’s this Older & Upper thing? I don’t think I’ve seen it before.

It's his family, isn't it? Probably best to hand it over to someone like the guy that's doing the Prince reissues. The Bowie ones seems pretty good too.

Madonna is obviously complicated by having her input too.

Not the same thing (but the same name :D), but this came out in 1997:

Why haven’t I seen that before?

And why can’t we have some more (modern) remixes of all these songs?

The Fastlove single had "I'm Your Man '96" on it, but that's probably not what you're after :D

I need some modern technology and sound quality applied to all these songs to turn them into one hour rave tracks each!

(same goes to all those dance-ish songs by Madonna, Massive Attack even Tori from mid-end of 90’s that I used to listen to)

Getting a video on the CD single was such a thrill ride.

Loved a video on a CD - seemed like you needed a new version of Quicktime every time you bought a single. Then, when it loaded up, it was in a window the size of stamp and looked like it had been filmed on a potato.

Magical days.

In their own statement, George Michael Entertainment said: “George was a huge fan of dance music and always embraced new talent, so we are delighted that Amazon Music together with these outstanding artists, LF System, Emily Nash, Kiimi and Absolute, is bringing his music to a whole new audience with these exciting remixes.”

The remainder of the remixes will be made available on October 7, exclusively to Amazon Music customers.

I think he played the same trick Madame did with FEL @lolly - as in, a lot of the vinyls were 'delayed' but they all arrived week of release.
Madame did it to cushion the 2nd week fall but GM did it to ensure a big debut.
Fair play but .

Dirty tricks.

Sorry, I still don't understand - but everything was out in the first week?

No - I pre-ordered the vinyl with a different release date months ago and it kept getting 'pushed back' until, interestingly, all the vinyls were delivered the week that it was out on Spotify - i.e. chart impact was all pushed back to that one week.

I guess you can hardly blame them.

Not that it would have made much difference. The album was #1 on sales and not in the top 100 on streaming.

Surely it’s quite normal to release a physical and a digital reissue at the same time to maximise chart impact? Isn’t that how a re-release works?

Or am I missing something

It is if that is the intention from the outset
But not when a release date keep getting pushed back

Oh I see. They probably intended to like a limited edition thingy and then decided to change it to a proper re issue. After seeing what has happened with others recently.

I mean it went in at #2 so it was the right move. I didn’t even know it was happening until last week!

Sales figures:

01 14,068 Slipknot - The End, So Far [7,873 CDs, 2,091 vinyl, 189 cassettes, 1,910 downloads, 2,005 streaming]
02 13,726 George Michael - Older [120 CDs, 12,652 vinyl, 249 cassettes, 190 downloads, 515 streaming] [total: 1,845,455]

12,000+ Vinyl seems high, but I have no idea what that market looks like these days. Assuming this expanded edition didn't come out on CD at all with those figures?

I would assume the vinyl figure includes the box set which is mixed format.
