Goooood mawnin.

Not much to say over here - the Friday + Payday feeling has little impact when you're working on Saturday.

Tighten up? I prefer to SHAPE UP.

With FELICITY KENDAL :disco:

If ever you're in Weston Super Mare (:eyes:) you must go to Revolver, a second hand record shop there. The guy who runs it must be an old poof because although the outside windows are lined with stuff to get the punters in, inside it's FESTOONED with CAMP OLD SHIT. Last week he had a Shape Up and Dance wall, a Sonia display, and a Kylie and Jason free Neighbours display.

He did tell Mr L off when he started rearranging the Abba section chronologically though. Apparently it's alphabetical intentionally :D

Oh GOD, I do chronology for filing purposes. :shy:
I mean I'm not saying you and Mr L are probably on the spectrum (although I'm not saying you're NOT either :eyes:), but surely alphabetically by act, then chronologically within act is the ONLY SENSIBLE WAY to file, isn't it?

I think the record shop owner is a bit special to be honest, but when I'm reading the sleeve notes for Wendy Craig's Bedtime Stories and Lullabies, I don't consider myself best placed to criticise.

Of course this is the only sensible way to file!

But I have given up doing that with vinyl, which is just by artist. I can’t face redoing it all now.

Chronologically and with best of's AFTER the studio albums right?

And artists first names, not surnames right? So Abba and Alanis Morrisette are both A's (as the ARTIST NAME begins with A for both yeah?)

Chronologically inclusive of compilations, live albums etc for me

Ie TIC is after IB and before Erotica

Lady Gaga was the biggest struggle- L or G. I went for L.

This is how I used to sort mine back when my cds weren’t in the basement.

Books are more sorted according to series and spine colours.

YEAH BUT in iTunes days it would order Alanis under A. It's an ARTIST name, not an actual name (although in this case they happen to be the same of course). Lady Gaga being an L not a G is of course another good example.

Solo artists go under the surname unless you're a monster. I still find the decision of whether to put Billie Eilish under 'B' or 'E' traumatic.

Mind you, it's still less horrifying than putting 'Voulez-Vous' next to 'Voyage' in an Abba collection.

I follow the @Tisch template for physicals as well - I'm just so used to it being that way. Alanis is absolutely an "A" artist in my mind because that's how it's always been in my digital collections

All albums and singles are in chronological under the artist though, regardless of whether they're studio/comp/whatever

EXACTLY.

A larger catalogue might need a bit of decision making...The Fall CDs are done by studio album and canonical live albums, then compilations based on the latest date covered and then non-canonical live albums. It makes sense.

E. Deffo.

But Lady Gaga goes under L cos it's a stage name. I had a real struggle with Lana Del Rey...

I think I'm #TeamTisch here. First letter of the first name/word (other than 'the'). There are too many exceptions and judgement calls if you are going by surname. And what about artists that drop their surname halfway through their career?

My iPhone puts A-ha first but my laptop iTunes puts A*M*E first.

Tempted to bin A*M*E because she has bad memory associations for me, and I don’t want to think about it

Oh yes I remember back in the day I had to do something funky with A Camp because iTunes would put her under C, but the A was the name, not an indefinite article. :kim:

I wish I could change the priority. It should be: Spaces, alphabet, special characters.

Then I’d be A1, AAA and Aaliyah
Now I’m A-Ha, A*M*E* and A*Teens

It was a rather taxing when Mel B changed her name to Mel G and then went back to B.

Thankfully the cds are all where they belong now 🚽

Why are there always people in heels standing next to me on the train. Literally seems like the first time they’ve ever been on a train *totters forever*

Just hold on to something instead of your phone! Or don’t stand perpendicular to the direction of travel?

Thankfully a problem only faced by about 0.05% of the record buying population.

It stays with the original name. All Katy Perry albums to be filed under 'H'.
