Anyone with kids watching on iPlayer or anyone in here remember the iconic show Balamory? Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and on iPlayer for the first time. The cast even seem eager to do more episodes, I’d still watch them! 😂

PC Plod or whatever he's called used to be a regular in all the Glasgow gay clubs as I recall :disco:

Never seen it

There's this Enya lyric in her song Na Laetha Geal M'óige 'an bealach mor' which sounds to me like (the word) Balamory 😄 and there actually seems to be some etymological sense to that 💡

I don't speak Irish nor Scottish, but it seems to roughly refers to a big/great road/way. The actual name of the island (Tobermory) comes from Scottish 'tobar Mhoire' meaning Mary's well. Maybe it's a portmanteau of the Gaelic words - Irish 'bealach' and Scottish 'Mhoire' so... Mary's way?🎈
Hoolie, I also found out recently, is like hooley, referring to strong winds or a party (I thought it had some link to hooligan haha). I have created the theory that Miss Hoolie is named Mary - daughter of someone who is windy or likes to party. :D

Balamory launched and became massive when I was at that transition from tween to teen. I think I was a little bit AFRAID TO GROW UP as aged 12 I went through a very weird CBEEBIES phase at which Balamory was at the epicentre... I used to bolt home during my first year of secondary school to watch it :D

So many BOPS though.

When I read that release yesterday it said "new characters include... local vet Dr Ollie (Carl Spencer) who lives with his two children and the Harbour Master (William Andrews)" and I thought OOOOH GAYS IN BALAMORY.

But I just came to highlight this to dear @Mary Whitehouse and it has now changed to "new characters include... the Harbour Master (William Andrews) and local vet Dr Ollie (Carl Spencer) who lives with his two children."

ARE THE HARBOUR MASTER AND VET FUCKING OR NOT, CBEEBIES?

Thank you bringing this to my attention. I've recently discovered what woke is and I'm LIVID that even sweet Balomory has gone woke being taken over BUM BANDITS, BEASTOPHILES AND NONCES.

What next? MISS HOOLIE ANAL?

There's an interesting clip of the returning and two new Balamory cast members (sat in some square conference-type seating plan I remember from school 😅) reading out a bit of the script  🦖

I saw a lot of Balamory stuff published today, especially from the Radio Times
Teletubbies mention too:)

Their hairstyles and roles may have changed, but Kim (Penny Pocket) and Juliet (Edie McCredie) have barely aged!

This looks very nostalgic 🥹

Some behind-the-scenes video:

Edit about half an hour later: new character Ava Potts is my kind of STEM friend 😊 and it clicked that she is related to Archie the Inventor 💡

Oh and a confirmed date of when it is finally airing the new series :disco:
