I imagine that most of the Tories crying out for his return are those who were still up in arms about him leaving in the first place. Show me some people who were crying out for him to leave who now want him back, and there may be more to it.

And it was all his loons who gave us Truss in the first place, because they were all #neversunak as they identified him as the main culprit in Johnson's departure. So of course they will be crying out for Johnson back - they aren't going to admit that their decision ground the party into the dirt, and now they are likely to get the leader they so desperately wanted to avoid anyway.
 
Mordaunt feels like she'd be the least unappealing, but her last leadership bid made it clear that the party would eat her alive. They stabbed her in the front on live TV, smeared her on the cover of the Mail, and even after she flip-flopped to please them, they chose Truss over her. Sad!

So, I reckon it's a choice between a billionaire in a designer suit inflicting austerity PLUS on the nation, and Britain's Berlusconi, also inflicting austerity on the nation but with catchy three word slogans.
 
So much for my prediction re: Boring Ben. And he supports Johnson too...unreal.

Yeah but the right wing propaganda is already talking about a 'remainer coup' because of the appointment of Hunt & Shapps into the higher cabinet positions (both were remainers.)

If he runs (which I think he will), Boris will probably capitalise on that and use the Brexit argument again to re-ignite his support with the public. I'm less optimistic than you are about the wider UK public but I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

He is an odious corrupt twerp, but he plays the game very well.
 
Ben Wallace our country's defence secretary is "leaning towards Boris."

Possibly, but I just don't think a lot of those who lent the Tories their vote in 2019 give a shit about Brexit any more. It's done for them. Some may even admit they were wrong.
 
I'm not sure an endorsement where the most the endorser would say is that they're 'leaning towards me', and added that I still had questions to answer on the privileges committee is the endorsement I'd ask for, personally.
 
Why do they fawn over Ben Wallace’s views, or view him as PM material. He’s had just the one cabinet job - and it’s one of the weirdest cabinet jobs - and weird personal views.

The numbers don’t lie. The Tories popularity is through the floor, Johnson himself polling almost as low as Truss.

He’s not a new face, either. He’s the reheated leftovers of a government that collapsed only a couple of months ago; he isn’t bringing anything with him other than the same stench of corruption and the same band of sycophants. I don’t think anyone is able to save them come the election, but I don’t think Johnson is their best shot.
 
It’s a bit worrying that the next PM is being decided via an shonky CCHQ online vote. If I were Russia I’d be planning my attacks on the server right now.

Whilst I despise vox pops, there was a great one with Tim and Liz from Winchester yesterday. Instinct reactions were: anyone but Johnson; isn’t Johnson still under investigation?; maybe Sunak - at least he has a brain unlike the current one; maybe Gove - he’s a dark horse - he’s been quiet.

They’re actively seeking them out. Phone ins and panel discussions are telling a totally different story.

Interestingly, some far right nutbags like Julia Hartley Brewer and Tom Harwood are dead against him, and a poll of GB News viewers suggested only just over half of them actually want him to return. Considering this is his BASE, it must be giving his supporters pause.

Plus, Reform UK are vainly trying to become a thing again. I can see his return conflicting with their schemes so a hatchet job from Tice is likely.

I never thought they would call a General Election, but it really is the only way out of this now.
 
I’m getting the same awful feeling of dread that I got at around midnight on the referendum night.

Similar, I’ve bet money on the shit scenario occurring.

I think vox pops are difficult because the kind of people that actually stop and engage tend to skew a lot older.

That's not helped by journalists going to Nowheresville High Street in the middle of the day to do them though.
 
why is nobody endorsing Theresa May though? she has the experience, the wardrobe, she made the entire commons laugh hysterically while giving Liz's obituary (the other one)... sounds like a UNITY CANDIDATE to ME
