I can’t see Boris getting suspended. They’ll find some way to convince whoever is leading it that it’s not in public interest and damaging to economy if another PM is removed from office and he’ll cruise back into power. People like him always find a way.

I’m just still agog the amount of Tory scum who still think he’s the answer. Even now. It’s so disheartening that people can be this ignorant and not care about the fate of other people. And have such an inability to recognise when they are being continuously duped, and never learn, despite EVERYTHING that has happened the past 2 years.
 
He was only a bit more popular than Liz Truss by the time he left. My only comfort in that the absolute cunt coming back will result in an election defeat. Which was why, at the very root of it, they got rid of him in the summer. Also it will cause more conflict in exactly the same party that just got rid of him. It entirely and consistently defies logic.

People have short memories and Johnson is a master manipulator and decent orator. Partygate is a distant memory and frankly many people will consider it pales into insignificance given the disaster that was Truss. He will slime his way past the standards committee, whip up the support of enough of his previous fanbase, and score enough at the next election to at least deny Labour an outright victory.

I too agree with this. You don’t get rid of populists so easily. I still think it’s almost a miracle that he even resigned in the first place.

It's not even Partygate that's necessarily the worst thing for him at this point - the man just very visibly fucked off on holiday when everyone needed help over the summer. There's short memories and there's '70% of the public was against him six weeks ago' short memories. There is some semblance of object permanence among voters.

It looks more like a presentation for the job she already has. Which does speak to the concern regarding lack of experience.
 
Seems like a LOT of senior Tories are trying to talk Boris into not running.

But the man famously can't resist a fight. He prefers campaigning to actually governing. So I'm not at all sure he'll listen to them.
 
Johnson is not going to take advice from the same people who forced him out. Our only real hope is that he falls short of the 100 because if he gets onto a membership ballot, he'll win.

Boris isn't really getting much momentum, there seems to be a swing against him. ERG membership won't get him to 100.

Mordaunt was one of the junior ministers who could not be bothered to resign in July.

so.. if Suella had been in the position she occupied until recently when her parents decided to immigrate to the UK she would have sent them to Rwanda and therefore would have been born there, effectively making it impossible for her to have the sort of education and chances she has had in Britain.. and it would have saved everyone from her utterly hateful and shameful rhetoric.

I get the feeling they'd rather just install Sunak without a membership vote so I think we're only likely to see a shift if Johnson gets even close to the ton.
 
if Boris backs out because it's clear that he can't get to 100, will his 60-80 ish supporters rally around Penny? surely they're all voting Boris pretty much because they hate Sunak?
 
Some are speculating that if Boris hits 100, Rishi will drop out rather than risk being beaten by the membership again. Mess! :D

Tbh, Rishi took a while to declare last time as well. I think it's probably more a sign that he only does things as and when he's ready.
