Just inspired by today's chatter about next year's debuts, I couldn't help but wonder ...
Which of the various Drag Race franchises have you watched / do you watch? I guess I mean at least one season of, not just one episode and given up.

That's it! That's the post

US - Seasons 1-13
All-Stars - Seasons 1-6
UK - Series 1-3
Canada - Season 1
Down Under - Season 1

I have sort of lost interest for the time being. I think it's the sheer number of different versions there are now and I don't have the patience or the time, plus I think it is becoming stale.

All of them except Thailand, The Switch and Celebrity.

Is The Switch from the same franchise?

Canada - Season 1
Down Under - Season 1

I think the Ru ones are getting a bit stale -
Though the US one has a few decent surprises to mix it up

I’ve been enjoying the non-Ru ones but it depends a lot on the hosts. For some reason I thought the hosting on Canada 2 was really good but poor on Canada 3, I think it’s the writers maybe?

Nicky in France and Supremme in España are my favourites I think, quick and funny and total softies. You really have to zoom in on Ru tears to check if he’s just doing it for the Emmy, but it is sometimes real I think. But for Nicky and Supremme it really feels genuine.

Thingy off Holland is good too, and of course Art and Pangina off Thailand are a hoot

I’m down to US (regular and all stars) and UK. Maybe France season 2.

I’ve honestly had enough and it doesn’t bring me joy anymore.

I still think the Ru ones are the best (well, not Down Under), but I agree about Supreme and Nicky. They’re total sweethearts.

The worst one is by far the Philippino one whose name I’ve already forgotten. She was rude and always seemed either high or drunk and seemed like she couldn’t stand the queens. :D

I warmed up to Priscilla from Italia, she has zero charisma, uniqueness, nerv and talent but she’s nice and look hot out of drag.

Oh yeah. Totally the same. I’ve no idea what’s going on with them. Very off putting

I really can't complain about not having anything to watch. I've got a feeling that when I do start to catch up it will be a massive binge. I do think that the best non-English speaking one I've seen was Thailand debut season, which struck gold in a way not seen since Tammie Brown spun round and round on season 1, which was also before she said that line, but that's by the by.

I've only watched the UK one, nothing else. Sorry to break the 100% chains in the voting!

I watched some episodes of The Switch, basically because it was Gia Gunn non stop serving, and it's an absolute mess. There is so many different things from the original format that I don't even know what is going on, but I guess they still had to buy the rights of the original DR, so I understand is part of the franchise. I'm also overwhelmed with so many versions and stopped watching most of them.

US - 6-7ish (I stopped watching S7 after Katya was eliminated)
UK - 1-4
Down Under - 1-2
Canada - about half an episode
UK vs The World - this lost any appeal for me after Jimbo and Pangina left, but I somehow finished it

For starters, the UK version should've been hosted by Julian Clary and aired late nights on Channel 5 with various Z-list oddballs as judges (think the Big Brother's Bit on the Side panel), but it badly needs to get rid of RuPaul and Michelle Visage. All versions need to feature far less of his dreadful music.

As someone that's caught up a while after and not watched that much of the show during its peak, I'm struck by how much of an exercise in unbridled narcissism the whole franchise really is (the images of Ru adorning the walls like Mussolini, Ru and Michelle pretending to be therapists etc).

@Mugatu But she's a GAY MAN IN A WOMAN'S BODY! How could you be so cruel and ungrateful :(

I felt so seen when the vile skinny fashion queen from Series 7 started complaining about how awful she was while the other ones recoiled in horror :disco:

The judging frustrates me a lot, especially the unfair treatment of my US favourite Max, who dressed like an elderly prostitute.

Isn’t the Philippines judge Jiggly Caliente? :o

No, she’s one of the permanent judges, but not the host of the show.

Oh really! I had no idea, after the promo about her critiques I thought she must be.

I’m worried I’d find the season really annoying - I’ve had some bad situations with Filipino guys in Japan 🥴 I wonder if I’ll just end up thinking about them

I have a feeling you’d fancy him (he’s cute of drag)

Another annoying thing about DR Philippines is that the judging panel is shot from a different angle (compared to all other shows), it feels wrong and takes time getting used to.

It’s actually a rather good season and an interesting group of queens, about half of them work in the same club which means there are already some that are friends/rivals... The problem is the editing; the episodes are way too long. Every judge gets to hold a long monologue about each queen and every queen has a long speech before they shantay away and so on. And there’s an Untucked, which I ended up skipping or esle I’d still be watching.

I felt like this with Italia - the episodes are so long but I couldn’t understand why - there aren’t really any extra parts, they just take forever

One thing that got me through was knowing there are only 6 episodes

But I’ve watched the first 3 and there were two double shantays

Why is there no option for BASIC AND ANNOYING AF RPDR ADJACENT YOUTUBERS which is basically what I consume nowadays

ANNIEWAYS.

I can’t stand these youtubers they always take ages to get the point, but sometimes I sit there and watch them anyway. :bruised:

Why is there no Pit Stop or Purse First Impressions to cover the latest seasons of DR? These sideshows have come to be almost more essential than the actual show

The Fashion Photo RuView thing was essential for a good few seasons

I still love Fashion Photo Ruview, but I'll listen to Raja talk about anything

Semi OT - here are The 1975 celebrating their 5th (!) consecutive UK number 1 album. But all I could think was that the one on the far right looks like Trinity the Tuck.

I thought I just liked recap / parasite shows by default but there are so many shit ones. Pit Stop is the only reliable one for me, and mayyyybe Whatcha Packin if I’m in the right mood

What’s that shitty Gogglebox one Wow are doing? And there was the other one with that really annoying gay - last lap?
