Monday celebrates Samhain at sundown

MORNING LOVES!

I hate Hallowe'en really for various reasons, but ended up watching two "scary" movies yesterday on the sofa, both of which were pretty rubbish, one of which amusingly so ("Miss Leslie's Dolls" on Amazon if anyone is interested in 70s shit soft scare- porn) and this evening will be embracing the season with It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and The Exorcist, cause I've got FUCK ALL BETTER TO DO.

I think I might be going to my first ever Isle of Wight festival next year! Mainly for Sam Ryder. But also Robbie Williams and Niall Horan are going and although I'm the biggest Robbie fan, I imagine he's a good entertainer.

Plus I feel like I should go to it at least once before I die.

An absolute stinker that has been running around the department for several months has been shat into my in-tray and I am NOT happy.

Still, the veil is thin tonight. Havoc may be wrecked.

I've lost count how many times I went to the IoW Festival on the cheap, having hung around the hovercraft waiting for someone who had peaked too soon to sell me a wristband for a tenner.

It's been a LONG TIME though. It's a bit middle aged/ middle class, I was always a Bestival boy- probably would suit me down to the ground now!

Nice to see Mystic Meg is still with us

MYSTIC OCTY'S BIVOUAC OF FORETELLING IS OPEN.

Cross my palm with live albums by The Fall, and I shall tell they true what comes to you.

GOOD MORNING MY LOVES.

It is days like today I am happy to live away from civilisation as I can’t be BOTHERED with trick or treaters and their shit jokes.

I'm very curious to see what my new building will be like for trick or treaters, I'll have to get stuff in just in case.

Well, I've got PUREED COTTAGE CHEESE for lunch, so that's something to look forward to :disco:

I think the general trick-or-treat rule these days is to only knock on houses with decorations as they're willing participants and the rest of us just want to sit and wallow in the evenings IN PEACE, but I always get a few Haribos in just in case. I can't forget the year I had nothing and was dishing out whole bags of Walkers Crisps to bemused ungrateful faces

Should have just turned the lights out and sat in darkness!

I never once have had a trick or treater where I live now- benefit of a penthouse flat I suppose :disco:

I kind of wish they did- though I don't get Hallowe'en at all, I quite like the idea of being nice to the local kids and seeing them all dressed up having fun. (DON'T)

When I lived at my parents, I came downstairs after hearing a HOOHAH and it turned out my Dad had asked two kids if they wanted to see his "haunted pond" (which he had genuinely set up for the grandchildren) and some parent had kicked off at him, thinking he was a pervert and wasn't satisfied he wasn't until he realised me and my Mum were there.

My poor Dad was just stood there looking confused saying "I only wanted to show them all the cobwebs I'd put up". :D :(

I don't get anyone, being in a flat but I switch off the buzzer just in case.

We haven't had any for a couple of years and we don't live a flat. We always get in some gelatine based products, just in case.

It’s a massive thing over in Ireland these days. Everyone takes part. I am not averse to dressing up and going to Halloween parties as it is all good fun, but I have never been keen on people landing at your door. I read the other day that if a teenager turns up at your door don’t turn them away as we are all going through a rough time at the moment and they also need some release. My 15 year old son has no interest in it whatsoever which I thought was pretty normal unless you were attending a party or suchlike? He would have no interest in trick or treating door to door. I thought that stopped once they went to high school on the whole.

High school age does seem to be the interregnum now. Primary school - participation almost compulsory. Secondary school - lol no too kool for that. Students to 25ish - yay, let's get pissed in a costume instead of our normal clothes. 30+ - fuck off.

I think I was twelve when I last went trick or treating. I hate fancy dress so quite enjoyed having to work instead of being dragged to a Halloween party :disco:

I love dressing up and briefly considered having a little Halloween party this year, but I wasn't organised enough - I'd have had to raid the dressing up box and would probably have ended up reusing a bunch of stuff from Masked Mooper videos and whatnot :tongueout:

When are you allowed solids again, Shee?

Two weeks liquid (soup, puréed)
Two weeks sloppy food (Mash, canned tuna, very soft pasta)
Two weeks light food (salad, proper pasta, most veg)

Then if all that goes to plan I can think about reintroducing proper food.

Have you got the urge to chew yet @Sheena ? I did strict slimfast for a week once, only shakes, and the urge to chew something was crazy!

The scariest film I’ve seen recently is actually on iPlayer, it’s a film called HOST which was made during lockdown. Would recommend.
