Turn Back Time looked like it could have been a winner at the start of the survivor. Shocked Manic Street Preachers managed to get further on here.

TBF I read a buzzjack feed yesterday where it appeared as it is one of the biggest selling non top five hits of the 90s and outsold many number ones, so you could argue Des deserves to be here :disco:

Ok reading the receipts and … well it’s not incorrect but you ARE overselling it a BIT :D

One of the biggest selling non top-5 singles (it’s #60), outselling many No.1 of the same year (6) :D
 
Also Life famously sold millions around Europe. It was #1 in Austria and the Netherlands and top 5 pretty much everywhere else. Hardly a career killer at all.
 
It was constantly on the radio and on MTV here and we all hated it.
 
Life by Des'ree was the soundtrack to children's TV series Why Don't You?

It first became a hit after it was performed on New Faces by a nude Daz Sampson. Des'ree later covered it to little acclaim, except for ironic acclaim which was popular in the 1990s and is still used by Internet gays.

It later became a hit on numerous personal charts after it was used on a party political broadcast by the Natural Law Party.

Des'ree performed it on Top of the Pops on 3rd May 1944 and 18th December 1998. Smash Hits reviewed it at the time saying it had all the hallmarks of a collection of words put to music.

When I went to a club night dedicated to 1998 they served plates of toast on the dancefloor during Life.
