hi moopy! i’m in dublin for a couple of days (to see aly&aj).

any recommendations on places to go / things to see / restaurants to grab a bite? i like museums!

ps sorry for posting in moopy moop, don’t have access ykwhere.
 
I haven't been to Dublin for years, and my mates just moved there, so I will be perusing this thread too.
 
HIYA I'M FROM HERE

Krewe on Capel St is a great place to eat! Also heard great things about 777 on Georges St but haven't been myself. My favourite tapas spot is Pintxo in Temple Bar (though Temple Bar itself is best avoided apart from a wander through)

Are you gay? We have some lovely gay bars, notably Pennylane, Street 66 and the new one called allmyfriends. Also Pantibar and The George if you're looking for something a bit rowdier.

Guinness Storehouse is a fun visit, book online in advance to save you queueing.

The EPIC Emigration Museum is popular, but not really my kind of thing. I loved the Kilmainham Gaol tour, but it sells out pretty far in advance. Worth checking out for cancellations etc (don't @ me @The Unholy Ghost ) if you have an interest in our history.

The National Museum of Ireland is free. As is IMMA, the Modern Art Museum.

Generally the south side of the river is considered the nicer part, especially for a wander/coffee/shopping etc. I wouldn't go too much further north than the venue where Aly & AJ are playing 🥴

Oh and Bread 41 is a very popular place for pastries and the like, it's near Trinity College.

Hi pleasure!

Go to The Cedar Tree for some tasty Lebanese and then hop on over to Street 66 for some jenga and then a boogie with the gays.

in the daytime you can stroll around St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square with a Murphy's ice cream, in which you'll see some of the most handsome twinks in flat caps

some evening you could even pop to Howth to eat some fish and chips and watch the sunsets and possibly a seal, or pop to The Leprechaun Museum (which is very good and not ACTUALLY about leprechauns, that's just for the americans) for the after dark tour.

that's my very shallow account of dub(lin).
 
There are a few bus tours you can do, it's a small city so they'll take in all the main spots. Phoenix Park is lovely too, but a bit far out of the city to walk, so the bus will bring you there and take you away again

The Viking Splash Tour is quite fun too - it goes on the water - but if wearing a viking hat and shouting at passers-by isn't your thing, steer clear.

Aly & AJ are playing on Abbey St which is near Capel St, so I would really recommend Krewe for food and Pantibar for a pre/post show drink (both on Capel St)

I'm a Dub, hope you enjoy my city! :)

The Natural History Museum is worth a look (if it is open it seems to be perpetually being renovated.) Locals call it the 'dead Zoo' because it is full of stuffed animals. In fact it a lot of ways it is kind of a 'museum museum' since a lot of the exhibits are from the 1920s or earlier and the whle building still has a kind of Victorian feel to it.
